I'm back on FS with new goals. I took 6 months off from the gym (burnout), turned 40 and finally got my butt in to the doctor for a thorough checkup. I have high cholesterol (hereditary), so rather than pop a pill, which doctors are so quick to prescribe, I'm trying to lower it with diet.

I am no longer concerned with the number on the scale, but my actual health. I'm making a concerted effort to cut WAY back on meat, especially processed ones like sausage, bacon, lunch meat (you know, all the good, salty stuff), eliminate dairy for real (cheese is my downfall) and watch my carb intake.

My gym moved locations and got all new equipment, and is now 24 hour access, which has done wonders to improve my motivation to get there. I've been working hard for a month now, and feel better every day. I'm on FS to log my food and make sure my nutrition is balanced, and start identifying things that I should eliminate in the interest of heart health.

So here's to a new year, and a new philosophy!
