My body is funny. The last weigh-in, it took me 12 days to go down 1 lb. This weigh-in, I went down 1.4 lbs in 2 days. Sometimes when I'm working out hard and not even eating more, I gain weight. And when I'm not perfect, I lose weight. And sometimes it appears that I'm maintaining, and then in a few days I'm down 3+ lbs. And during TOM, which I get every 3 weeks instead of 4 (ARG!), I gain 1+ lbs. I really dislike this unpredictability!

But I HAD to share today's weight. I've been excited in anticipation if I will get into the 140s, and this morning I woke up feeling like I was there. So I weighed in, and BAM...I'm there! :D Body fat % on the scale says 26.5%. I think it's actually lower than that, but that's fine...machinery is flawed, especially the body fat reading on an inexpensive scale (I like to see the downward trend and I'm not concerned about the number itself, but it would be nice to get an accurate number someday). I look at my race pics and it looks like I have very little fat on me...I see only a little excess skin over muscle...except in my belly, which is a LOT of excess skin, lol.

Happy today. I struggled so hard over a year ago with reaching my goal weight (160 lbs). Came within 3-4 lbs of it and couldn't get any lower. I actually maintained for a year and figured that was it...that was as far as my body would let me go. Now I'm 15 lbs lower than that and dropping. I'm happy I found what allows me to be the healthiest me :)

Have a great day, peeps :D Keep trucking!

When you workout hard, your muscles retain water to help them heal. This can show on the scale as a temporary gain, no loss or smaller than usual loss. It's temporary. So many things can effect the scale. Google "why the scale lies" for insight. Sounds like you are doing great.

it is said that every woman is born with a set number of eggs... if you get TOm every three weeks (like me) just be happy with the fact that menopause is likely to set in soon and you will be free of all your female problems by the time you are fifty-five.

Great job, congrats on getting into the 140's. A question for you if you don't mind: What change did you make that has taken you from what you thought would be your maintenance weight to where you are now?

I too am curious to the change that made you decide to change you maintenance weight goal?

To break my year-long plateau, I first went Paleo and then reduced the amount that I ate. So it was a combo of very healthy food and less food. I'm eating more now, now that I'm at a happy point with my weight, but I'm also very active. My body responds very well to exercise. My diet is "strict" according to most, but I believe it's very healthy. I only eat meat, fish, seafood, veggies, and condiments. Almost everything is organic, whole foods. I eat a lot of veggies, a good amount of protein, drink a lot of fluids (mostly water and herbal/decaf tea), and I have a lot of variety in my meals and I love what I eat. The things I don't eat are: carbs that aren't veggies, most starchy veggies, nuts, dairy, caffeine, artificial sweeteners, and most processed foods. I also do IF (intermittent fasting) where I don't eat after dinner and have a late breakfast. I listen to my body a lot. I'm also active as much as possible and I workout regularly. I never completely bomb my diet because this is for life...a lifestyle, not a diet that I keep going on and off of, because that doesn't keep the weight off. I hope this is helpful. It works for me.

I forgot to add that I also get plenty of fats from olive oil, eggs, meat/seafood, condiments, etc. Fats are essential to the body!

Water weight can mask fat loss on the scale. The mirror and the numbers of calories expended vs. consumed are better indicators of progress than a scale.

Diablo, that information is already well-known, and you're offering it to someone who has been around here longer than you and has already reached their goal weight. Maybe you should spend more of your time on research and looking into things, rather than just touting your advice every chance you get.
