Realising I'm an emotional eater..... I have no clue how to break the habit. Any suggestions on ways to break away from emotional eating?

I was also an emotional eater, it took time but I taught myself to rather take my emotions out on my exercise, instead of eating I would get on my spinning bike and see how fast and hard I could pedal, it made me feel better, best of luck🤗

acknowledging it to yourself is a huge step in the right direction... next bit. is accountability to yourself and removing the guilt and shame when the old habits kick in. for myself... I use a bullet journal. have done so for about 4 years now. many different things to track. like sleep habits, moods, daily gratitude, habit and weight trackers. Pinterest and Google are loaded with things to look at. I've found it to be the best way for myself to express my inner self and manage my habits accordingly.

I'm the same. My advice is do something else, take a walk, do breathing exercises, distract yourself from the eating deal with the emotions in other ways. That's a start at least, Goodluck.

Exercise, keep your hands busy, knit, colour, anything that distracts you. Journal and find out how to deal with said emotion. It’s really tough - but you can do it!

google for some healthy snacks to chew on. i know of a great chocolate fudge recipe that's completely sugar free yet tastes just as sweet! another tip: keep yourself busy. do something you love. exercise. make the unhealthy food unavailable to yourself (just don't buy, or throw away, or store in a very high place) talking to myself as well...

Also it's good you have realized this. So now to recognize when you are feeling emotional and talk your self through it.

I have had the same thing. When I catch myself, I always ask myself:’what was the thought or event prior to me wanting to eat’ - there’s healing to be done there. Heal te reason and you’ll heal the habit. Also good to ask - am I really hungry right now? There’s an audiobook by the name of ‘Loving what is’ - By Bairon Katie - it changed how I think not just about food, but all triggers 😉
