In my last journal I challenged my buddies to do something extra hard or different in their workouts. I decided to take my own challenge to heart and tried something new yesterday. The gym (basketball courts) was open at the Y yesterday so I decided to to full court sprints, and did 60 of them. I did them in sets of 20 and timed myself. They were not so much a sprint half way through! It took me about 10-11 min total, or 3.45 per set of 20. That is a great workout though if you want to try something new. I also did weights and biked only for 10 min.

I worked today so didn't work out, but think I will bring my stuff to workout directly after work tomorrow. I'm feeling good and feeling much more in control of my eating. Healthy choices are abounding in my house. My hubby has been trying to lose and is working out to and is down 8 lbs within the last few weeks. It comes off much faster for him but that is how it works. I'm glad he is losing and excited about getting a flat belly back. Report back in on that challenge if you haven't done it yet!

Sweet victory! I'm back in the 130's! I had to work for that! I feel I am on a good course back downward on the scale. My measurements were a 1/2 inch smaller than last week too. The hard work is paying off again. Perseverance is always a good thing!

I had another good workout last night- I ran 1.7 miles, then biked 8 miles and did about 30 min of floor exercises at home. I will hit the gym this afternoon and might try a "bumped up pilates" class and run or just do weights and run.

I read a tip about making frozen yogurt at home- take a container of lowfat vanilla yogurt and put it in your ice cream maker to make frozen. Add blueberries or strawberries on top. That sounds yummy, doesn't it? I also read about a miso soup with noodles, leeks, and scallions. I am going to look up a recipe for that b/c that sounds yummy too.

One trick I have been doing is I've been having a yogurt with a small spoon of frozen fat free cool whip on top at night. It's under 100 calories and is good for you.

Have a healthy week and I personally challenge you to push yourself harder in your workout the next couple of days than you normally would. Try an interval of running at a fast pace or something along those lines- make it a noticable challenge and tell me about it!

I have been having some great workouts. My good news is I finally got the same time on my bike as I did in last year's indoor triathlon. I have been 1/2-1 mile behind my time and couldn't seem to bring it up. Today I finally reached my same exact mileage of 4.64 miles in 15 min. Yes!
This was AFTER I ran 3.2 miles and then I biked 15 min and decided to see what I could do in another 15 min bike going all out. So I guess my muscles were good and warmed up. The good news is I did it as I have been thinking I will not be able to get as good of a time as I did last year which was pretty frustrating. I'm feeling strong and fit and just waiting for this extra weight to come off. It is being extra stubborn this time. I plan to have a good week and be vigilant in what is going in my mouth! Hope you do the same!

I am fighting for every pound to come off right now! It goes on so easy but is sooo hard to take off, isn't it? It doesn't seem fair!

I am whooped today by my workouts. I went to a 45 min full gym boot camp today for the first time. Push ups, lunges, running across the gym with a 10 lb bar over you head and then with holding a chair over your head, and much more. I feel it in my arms more than anything. Tonight my hubby and I went for a quick work out for 35 min which included bike, run, and elliptical. He has been trying to lose weight too and is doing good with it and is joining me for workouts. He is going to do the triathlons too with me. Of course all his times are already better than mine. Oh well! I am still .60 mile behind my bike time from last year. I am working my butt off to beat my time and not sure what the deal is with that other than I'm a year older.

We made some yummy sauteed scallops in a little butter and some fish in a little butter and green onions. Both very yummy. See my last journal for some good tips and a soup recipe.

Here's to good health and treating yourself right! Have a great weekend, everyone!

I'm pretty disappointed I don't have a loss to post. I am shooting to post one tomorrow or the next day! We have lots of healthy eating going on in our house and the exercise is full speed ahead right now. If I don't see a loss soon, I may have to record Points for a while to see if I am taking in calories I don't realize. I really prefer to eat consciously instead, but I also really want to drop 5 lbs.

I have been kicking butt with the workouts though and am back in full training mode! I swam 1/2 mile last night- on Sat. I ran 3 miles then biked 7, and the other days have been weights and more running and biking 4 days a week. So I know I am doing what I can physically right now.

I have tried a few new things you may want to hear about:
-Moving Comfort Fiona sports bra- found on roadrunnersports.com- excellent fit and performance!

-I bought new running shoes that I still have to run in longer to see if they are good as well- also on roadrunnersports.com. They are the Nike Voom Vomero Max +4. I need a lot of cushioning with my higher arches. They are so comfortable, like walking on clouds. I love them. However, my feet hurt a little so I need to make sure I can break them in and my feet won't hurt anymore. I really hope I can keep them. It's so hard to find a running shoe that is just right!

-I made a yummy soup that was really easy- Navy Bean
-Sautee a minced onion with 1 Tbsp butter, add a little flour. Add in broth (I made my own vegetable broth), about 1-2 cups more water, about 1/2 packet dry vegetable soup mix, and a can of navy beans or great Northern beans, undrained. I also had a piece of cooked bacon I crumbled in it which added a lot of flavor. I just threw these things in together and wasn't sure it would turn out good, but it was great!

For homemade vegetable broth: Throw in any and all kinds of vegetables into a pot of water. I used all the tops of celery sticks I was going to throw away and whatever else you want, and added some oregeno and basil seasonings and minced onion. Boil then simmer until the veggies are mushy. Drain out the water from the veggies and that is your vegetable stock without all the sodium!

Have a healthy day everyone! PS- I am ready for the sun! It has been so gloomy here day after day for weeks. Anyone else??
