I haven't weighed in since my doctor visit (Reminder: all my numbers are good except for weight, which is headed in the right direction), but I need to check in for a second. I'm feeling good, but my wife and I sort of let down our hair a bit this weekend. Friday started off with UConn football and the requisite tailgate prior to the game. Homemade grilled pizza was on the menu. UConn lost, but they played hard vs. a tough opponent (BYU) and have a new coach so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. Anything is better than the last three years under "Coach" Pasqualoni. The players just check out mentally on him. So did a lot of fans. (Regardless, still basking in the glow of the dual basketball championships...)

Anyhow, We followed up Friday night by doing a ton of house work both in and outside and then the evenings in the pool. On Sunday, I mowed the lawn. I own just under an acre but only about 2/3 is mowable. Doesn't matter...did it with a walk-behind.

Monday was some more housework. Truth be told, I was cognizant of what I ate, but didn't track very well. On the bright side, my habits (slow and enjoyable) have gotten to the point where my stomach lets me know. I know I need to weight in, but in the meantime, I feel pretty good.

Just got back from the doctor. In February I had a physical where I was run through the whole shebang: Weight, BP, Cholesterol, Blood panel (I have hypothyroidism), urinalysis, etc.

I am happy to say that since then, I have lost 14 pounds and I have to believe it's more since my trip to Vegas at the end of June. To go along with that, my cholesterol is in the mid-100s and my BP is 112/80 (medicated). Given other readings (Triglycerides and whatnot), it appears that my kidneys and liver are functioning normally as well.

I figure at this rate (knowing full well that I probably won't maintain this pace), I should be about 235 by New Years, my low watermark since college (218) by Presidents' Day, and 199 by the time UConn repeats as Basketball National Champions (Both Men and Women, of course), despite the NCAA's best efforts to prevent it.

Until then, slow and steady wins the race and small goals will be celebrated along the way.

Not much today, but I've decided to check in. You may notice that I haven't done a weigh in since I've gotten back. The truth is, the 280 is an estimate I came up with right after I got back from Vegas about 7 weeks ago. I have a follow-up physical on Wednesday, at which point I am going to record that weight and use a February weight (same scale) as my starting weight.

I know I've lost weight only because my belt is a loop tighter (where I could barely reach the next belt hole on a good day), and my clothes are much looser. I can go another, but I don't want to be uncomfortable. I fully acknowledge that these typically are excuses when one is on the heavy side, but here's the thing: I bought two shirts without trying them on prior to Vegas, and my wife wouldn't allow me to wear them outside the suite. She said I looked like an overcooked sausage about to burst its casing Gotta love her. She's nothing if not honest...painfully, borderline-offensively, honest.
