Hi there. I am 51 years old, married to a wonderfu man, loving mother to a daughter and son and owner of a small yarn company. I also have celiac disease. It took over 15 years to get my symptoms narrowed down to gluten and during that time I also yo yo dieted. The way that my body reacts to gluten is to hold on to everything. I am now dealing with the damage caused by eating gluten for so many years, such as leaky gut. My doctor put me on a diet to heal my intestines called SCD. This diet was helping my symptoms but I wasn't eating enough. When I read about the new Atkins I saw that it is very similar to scd but there are guidelines and resources to help both with weight loss and help to keep you eating enough as well as a cheerful community of fellow Atkins buddies. I have a lot of food intolerences that I will have to work around such as limiting most vegitables and egg yolks. I will also need to incorporate the SCD lactose free yogurt. I haven't accidently eaten any gluten for over a year, but was just recently exposed to gluten and it has put me into a stall as well as bringing back many symptoms. I am going to fight through it though as I know my gut is healing even if I am not loosing weight and hopefully my body will get re trained with this healthy way of living.
