I just lugged my nearly 300 lb butt out on a planned 30 minute uber brisk walk with hills all around my neighborhood block. I've walked this walk too many times to count. This is the first time I've attempted it this heavy. I only lasted 15 minutes (one lap) and I feel like I'm dying. The worst part of it all was the embarrassment I felt as I walked past people huffing and puffing like the out of shape mess that I am. I'm so ready to not feel like this anymore. Until I'm in better shape I think it's best that I start walking way late at night or way early in the morning before people are out. The level of shame is off the charts during normal people hours.

Personally, I admire the person who takes those hard steps for a healthy lifestyle!! Congrats!! I promise it will get better!!

Who knows, those neighbors might be admiring your motivation, determination and can do attitude. I find people are often less judgmental than I am of myself.

I always think, "Bravo!" For those who are doing something about overcoming their obstacle. We all have them, some are just better at hiding it. ChristineMeowK... Thanks for being so real and candid. The FS family is inspiring. encouraging and entertaining. You are in good company. Don't give up on FS. Most importantly, don't give up on yourself and your dreams.

Something else I was thinking.... By you getting out and walking, you never know who you might inspire to do the same! So keep setting a great example for others, because it's true, you never know who's watching. You might be saving someone else's life :)

When people try to shame you, it's usually - not always, because some people are just naturally arses - because they're not happy with their own lives. You keep doing you. Bullies will always find a victim; nothing you do will really change their habits. That's why you have us for support :D

Thanks everyone. My calf muscles are screaming this morning. I walked to the bathroom like a zombie!!! 😂 I'm definitely gonna have to stretch and loosen up before I make any attempts today or someone may shoot/stab me in the head over fear that I'm a walking dead walker! Ahahahahaha I can just see it now... the slower draggy limp walk... the heavy breathing!!! This could get ugly! Right now I wish I wasn't such a giant and had a tub deep enough to soak my stilts in!

I know that stiffness all too well. Odd feeling to walk around like that but don't really stretch your muscles before walking, just warm them up. What helps to prevent the stiffness is to stretch AFTER you are done with your walk. And I mean really stretching the leg muscles (would not hurt to stretch the whole body though :-) ). Also, some magnesium at bedtime could help you with the soreness.

Keep in mind that you're moving more weight than the "stick people" on the street - personally, I'm carrying around additional weight equivalent to an average 11 year old boy with every step I take. When I consider THAT fact, a 15 minute walk is a VICTORY. (I named my imaginary 11 year old Justin Bieber because he's obnoxious and I want him to go away :-)) The stick people don't HAVE the Justin hanging off them, so of COURSE it's easier for them to lightly leap from toadstool to flower, singing all the way (or whatever it is that stick people do ;-).

I started off carrying exactly twice me ideal body weight. My mom says when I get to the 80lbs lost mark she's going to have my youngest sister get on my back and have me carry her piggy back for ten minutes to remind me how hard that extra weight was to carry
