Today started at 7:30 Sunday morning. The first frustration was weighing in 1.8 lbs gained; even though, I averaged out to 1700 calories a day for last week. Second frustration was after consuming only 290 cal all day and going for a nice light meal at Applebee's the bartender gave me regular Pepsi instead of diet like I asked for and I didn't realize it until after I drank it. That was 200 calories in one glass. Then I forgot my no fat dressing (30 cal) and ate theirs, then later found out it was 210 calories. So after working all day remolding a bathroom and then up all night trying to weed down about 250 lbs of tools to 150 lbs (including clothes) for my flight to Alaska I really got discouraged and quit carrying what I ate, However I managed to stay will under my RDI for the first 24 hours but by the time we were over BC I was starving and as I discovered as the hours increase I lost all resemblance of control. I started ordering food every time a flight attendant walked by. By the time I got Kenai and visited the job site (going on 33 hours)it was useless and I decided to cancel today (due to lack of interest) and just continue watching my calories tomorrow like nothing ever happened.

BTW its just about 1:00AM and it just got dark. We've all heard about it but its something else to actually see it. This is great fianaly being able to get here I have wanted to go to Alaska I think at least a month before I was born.
God speed to all!

A change in routine really throws me off. Travel is especially disruptive. That's why I decided to formally go off the diet while I'm in the States. Getting discouraged by not being able to keep to my program could easily lead me to completely throw in the towel. I hope that by giving myself permission to eat freely for the next two week, I won't feel like I've failed. My plan is to keep my calorie count below 2900 and hopefully not gain a ton, and then get back on track when I return to Japan. I hope you can get back on track tomorrow. When I (involuntarily) visited Alaska it was late August, so the sun went down before midnight, but I do remember 11:00 p.m. sunsets one summer when I was on a business trip to Vancouver, B.C. It was very cool.
