The Problem with Food and Me


I always thought it was odd when I'd hear people talk about needing to change their relationship with food. But lately I've been thinking about when and why I eat. Clearly I'm not eating for sustenance -- at least not most of the time. So here's what I'm thinking about food...

Food is stimulation when I'm bored. It's a comfort when I'm stressed. It doesn't argue with me, talk back to me, or babble on relentlessly about nothing. Food is puzzling, intellectually stimulating, and endlessly entertaining. Food is a good companion at parties when I don't know anyone. Food is a social lubricant; an excellent addition to any social gathering. In fact, a social gathering without Food is rare and would feel odd.

So maybe I need to make food boring and create strict times, places, and moods in which I consume food.

i agree...ive started only eating...when my tummy tells me its hungry...and even then sometimes i dont listen...lol...
