Last week was pretty tough, emotionally/psychologically.
I had a PET scan Wednesday morning and met the medical oncologist Wednesday afternoon (she's the team leader). I'll meet the radiation oncologist and then a few more diagnostic images on the 23rd.
Chemo and radiation will begin in March and will last 5-7 weeks.
They haven't staged it yet, but the reports from all the diagnostics look good for having cancer (I'll be surprised if it's anything other than stage one. The surgeon and the oncologist are saying we caught this super early. We've been monitoring it for about a decade - since it's a recurrence.
I live in New Haven, CT. Yale has a relatively new cancer hospital called Smilow Cancer Hospital. It's definitely a regional leader. I've been enrolled in the GI Cancers Program at Smilow.
I use FatSecret to track my food choices. I should be meeting with a dietitian or nutritionist and, because of FatSecret, I can generate reports so that nutrition can be utilized to kick this cancer's ass.
