Had a great weekend! (It is Friday and Saturday here in the Middle East.) Today I had a pretty solid breakfast, but I hardly ate anything throughout the day. I wasn't prepared with compatible food, so I just roughed it out as we went about enjoying the day. I tried to drink a lot of water and picked up some cucumbers at a farmer's market at the park. That left my famished at the end of the day. I felt like I ate too much for dinner. It would have been less if I had eaten a reasonable lunch. I need to work on meal consistency. However, calorie wise it wasn't bad. It looks like I don't feel very hungry at around 1,700 calories.
Overall, I feel good.

Overall pretty good today. Took my daughter to a birthday party serving extremely carb rich foods like pizza, cake, fries, etc. I made a point to have a 300g chicken salad and water before going to lower any temptation I might have to indulge. That planning helped me escape unscathed.
More thoughts on butter. I still have some issues from yesterday. I am pretty sure the issue is butter. I have been thinking and noticed that I had similar symptoms after drinking lattes. Over my summer holiday I plan to visit a doctor to look into this in more detail. I want to isolate the problem and really know what is going on. At that time, I will get some blood work done. I wish I would have done that before starting the diet, but I started when I had the inspiration. Oh well!
Thoughts on coconut oil... This was suggested by a wonderful Fat Secret community member in the comments of my last post, so I decided to get some at the supermarket today. Just for a test run, I put some in a tall cup of fresh brewed coffee. Not bad... I will have to look at ways I can work it into my daily routines.
Calories were a little higher than what I am shooting for today. I was hoping to be around 1,500, but I felt genuine hunger in the evening. I am seeing now that it is better to distribute calories more evenly throughout the day. I think that would lower appetite in the evening which would help me reach my calorie goals. I am just trying to be very aggressive between now and September. I might ease up a little depending on my progress.
Am I in Ketosis? There is no scientific way to tell. I would have to test for it. Unfortunately, I am not able to buy ketone testing equipment here in the UAE where I currently live. I am probably going to purchase an electronic ketone tester from Amazon this coming week. However, considering that I have been averaging around 10 to 15 carbs a day with very high fat intake, I would be very surprised if I were not in Ketosis by now. I am definitely losing weight, but I know this diet has a diuretic effect in the beginning, so I am not expecting as high of a loss next week, but we shall see. I would welcome the surprise of a big weight loss showing on the scale.

I can't believe that I lost this much in about a week. I have to keep going...
Couple of notes:
1. My last weigh in was 16 April 2016. Fat Secret record the first weighed in when I joined Fat Secret, so I has been six days since my last weigh in.
2. Weighed in on the scale located in my gym -- professional grade scale, so reliable.

I left home in a bit of a rush, so I didn't really prepare a proper breakfast. I didn't want to go through the morning without eating something, so I bought some cheese at a supermarket and a liter of sparkling mineral water. I was not that hungry at lunch time, but I wanted to keep fueling to avoid a fasting state. I bought a salad with a little cheese and chicken on top (no dressing). At dinner, I added some butter to increase fat content. My stomach has been hurting a bit from the butter.
My gall bladder was removed around 7 years ago. Since then, when I eat fat with carbs, I usually get IBS type symptoms. My fat content since I started this diet has been very high, but no issues at all -- until I ate a large quantity of butter. I will have to see if this happens again. Then I will be able to isolate the butter as a potentially problematic food. Not sure... But the IBS-like I have right now isn't good.
I still need to work on my sleep!

Mixed feeling today. My fat-protein-carb ratios were about what I wanted them to be today, but I wanted to keep my calories at around 1,500. Toward the evening I felt a little hungry. I prepared about 6.5 oz of cheese and about 1 cup of lettuce to wrap it with. That really brought up the calories. I would have easily been satisfied with 1 or 2 oz. Definitely overate here. I am still not totally used to the the fact that fat has a lot of caloric density. Sometimes I can't believe it. It's okay. It is a process, and I just started. I committed to low carb life.
I am trying out MyFitnessApp by Active Wear. My brother recommended it. I like Fat Secret a little more, but I will be using these two platforms side by side for 30 days and see which one I like. I even paid to unlock the premium features in My Fitness for one month just to see.
