I'm turning 25 in February! I've always been overweight but I never thought I'd get to my mid 20's and be unhappily overweight.
I like my life, I like my friends, and my boyfriend is a wonderful inspiration (he's lost 100 lbs!) but I don't want to look back someday and feel like I let my beautiful youthful years slip, and I didn't get to enjoy a fit body while everything was still perky (if you know what I mean.)

Last Christmas, my parents (the sensitive bunch they are) bought me Nutrisystem. It was a well-intentioned gift that was not well received at first but I gave it a shot, and lost 20 lbs. Of course, since I was doing it for someone else rather than me, it didn't take long for me to fall off the wagon and gain back 75% of what I lost.

So now I want this for me. And I'm not telling my parents because they always take my weight way too seriously and make me desperate and I just want to spite them by eating a hamburger in their faces, but I need a real support system, people who understand how hard it is to try to eat right for you and not for anyone else. I need people who are going through what I'm going through.

Summer 2011 Update:

Since joining, I have turned 25, had my heartbroken by my "inspiring" boyfriend, did a little rollercoaster of weight gain, and now I'm back. I am working out behind my dad's back because if he knew I was trying to lose weight again, he's just get on my case. So I sneak my gym bag out in the morning, go to the gym after work, and try to sneak back in without him noticing. Sad, but hey, you do what you can to stay motivated.
PS ladies: guys who have lost a lot of weight pretend to have ugly duckling syndrome but really they are just looking to try and put some new notches on their bed post to catch up with their buddies. So my new rule is do not date formerly fat guys, even if they seem genuine. Date hot guys who always thought you were beautiful but are happy you are trying to get healthy.
