I'm a self proclaimed "food ho". I've struggled with weight most of my adult life. Last January (2011), I joined the Y and consistently participate in a variety of group classes each week (3-6 classes). I know that my fitness level has greatly increased but I can't seem to shed the excess pounds. I've firmed up some but want to get rid of all that jiggles. So, I've decided Atkins/low carb eating is how I want to go about this. My husband did Atkins induction phase with me last Nov. and lost 16 lbs. Holidays came/went and we got off plan. Dieting is a little easier when everybody is on board. But, I am in control of what I put in my mouth and need to remember that my success/failure doesn't depend on anyone else.
I work full-time and do bookkeeping for our business part-time. I have two amazing sons (twins) who truly inspire me. They are HS wrestlers and take fitness very seriously. One has undergone (2) open heart surgeries in the last 2 years and is doing fantastic now. The other was a state champion qualifier last year and runner up at states this year (with bilateral knee surgery/rehab in between). Hoping for 2 state champs next year! Many of my weekends are spent traveling and watching sons compete in tournaments or skill/technique camps. I love just being lazy whenever I have a chance.
My new favorite Y class is Body Pump. I can really see a difference in muscle definition. Weak spots - ice cream, bread, pasta & rice.
