At end October 2014 I weighed in at 101 kgs. Was also border line for Diabetes. Went for some blood tests and after some serious talks with my doc I embarked on a path to lose 10kgs in 6 months. The diet was simple - Low Carb and Low GI carb sources. The limit was set at 150 grams of Carb intake per day (including drinks e.g tea, coffee, fruit juice etc. The diet was combined with a mixture of cardio and weight training exercise at least 5 days per week. Lost 5 kg in the first 2 weeks of the diet. Two weeks later another 3 kgs came off. Doc said the rapid loss was also some water loss. Since then its around 2 kg per month. Over December (festive time) lost nothing but did not gain anything - on docs advise made sure that carb intake did not exceed 225 grams per day when cheating on the diet (that way you won't gain weight) I eat chocolate twice or thrice a week. Eat cake once a week so am not starving myself from what I like. Just adopted a better way of eating and make sure that if I eat chocolate or cake that I am still in my overall carb count for the day. Protein is from lean sources e.g chicken and fish. Since I was going well At end Jan doc decided that we must go for a good BMI so he set the goal weight to 85 then changed it to 80kg. Joined Fat secret in Jan this year. Love the weigh in tools and nutrition tools. Need to keep on my diet. Doc says if I adopt this as a permanent way of eating I will not have weight issues. LOL. All I can do is try.
