I think I'm losing weight too fast. Im down 6 pounds in 3 days. Looking at my intake I'm wondering if I need to up my calories a bit. Im not going hungry by any means, and when I eat a meal I'm full. Could it be that I just have a LOT of excess fat in my body that's dropping fast and will slow down later?

I'm feeling GREAT, and my wife has commented about how much extra I've been doing in the shop and garage. Maybe I'm losing faster due to not moving like a sloth like I did for many years.

Any ideas?

As long as you are feeling great I wouldn't change anything. It could be that you have been retaining water and all of a sudden it flushed out.

No ideas of my own, but it's probably worth looking at tactics for avoiding metabolic syndrome.

It's interesting and sometimes frightening to see a partner suddenly energized and getting things done that they want to do. It's obviously a good thing, yet not easy to adjust to, after years of living with lethargy. Many people sabotage that. So hats off to your bride for encouraging you! :-)

Most of that 6 pounds is probably water. If you check your weight again tomorrow it will be different from what it is today. Depending on how big you are you could fluctuate quite a bit in weight over the course of the day as you eat and drink and sweat and use the bathroom. Weighing yourself once a week under similar circumstances gives you a more consistent metric. I do mine on Sundays, after I've done my morning exercise and used the bathroom, but before I have breakfast. And bear in mind, what the scale says is just a loose guideline for how well you're doing, as are the numbers FatSecret shows you. Just keep on the exercise and stick to a healthy diet.

Thanks to all. The only reason I was on the scale today was a visit to my ortho dr, otherwise I would have waited until Tuesday/Wednesday, my usual weigh in days. Now I'll go out into the shop and have a creative long weekend!

Agreed it could be mostly water. Also remember not all scales read the same. There used to be a scale at my gym that read 3lbs over from a calibrated scale. Also very true how you're body will fluctuate through the day. Best time to weigh your self is first thing in the morning.

Take it as loss and enjoy it, I found when I was very heavy the weight would come off fast at first, as I became more active, it kept coming off, as I got lighter, it slowed down with weight, you are doing great, just keep at it , and don't worry about the scale, it's how you feel, and how your clothes fit that really counts.I would go for months with no weight loss on scale, but my clothes would be getting bigger on me..
