Feeling motivated this morning, joined the Plank Challenge. Saw something on Pinterest about doing planks so I figured why not. It doesn't start for 7 days, but I started this morning so I can get to the 20 seconds they start with (hopefully). Sugars a bit high in the morning, can't figure it, got to get them lower - not going back to insulin. There are 2 schools of thought, 1. eat a snack - some protein before bed. 2. Try not eating after 5pm instead of not eating after 7pm. Think I'll e-mail my doctor and see what his recommendations are. Did some baking since it was cool Saturday morning - zucchini brownies!

I love planks! So many fun variations on them. Took time off bc shoulder issues, trying to start again, hoping challenge will re-boot that habit. Your tip of ramping up slowly is helpful, thank you.

Overnight, the liver monitors serum glucose. If it senses "starvation," the liver releases glucose into the digestive system from its stores of glycogen. If natural insulin is insufficient, the cells can't process the surplus glucose, and it shows up as a higher blood sugar reading in the morning. Paradoxically, *not* eating may be *increasing* nighttime blood sugar levels. If you eat a small snack of protein and a bit of fat but no carbohydrate. This keeps the liver satisfied, moderating the blood sugar level during the nighttime hours. An ounce of cheese of any type may do the trick. Experiment, starting with a small portion of food. Test and record exactly what you eat and the corresponding morning fasting blood sugar reading. The amount of the snack needed to overcome the liver's "starvation reaction" will become clear.

I get all my recipes on Pinterest, you can look for Keto Zucchini and all kinds of recipes come up. However, I only try the ones that have the nutrition break downs. These have 2. something each and 2 grams of fiber.
