Does anyone know of a reliable scale to buy that is accurate for body fat %? I just bought one and it's way off! Annoying!

does not exist as far as I know as they measure water % too. Therefore not accurate. Calipers are the best way to measure body fat.

I agree with calipers. I got a fancy scale but the body fat says something crazy like 40% all the time - and the last time my trainer did calipers it was 28% - which is reality.

I have a decent Tanita BIA scale, however I find the fat estimate feature frustrating. I use it and the calipers, as best I can tell the "normal" setting of the scale calculates too high a fat percentage and the athlete setting too low a percentage. According to the calipers I'm about halfway between the two readings.

Thanks for all the input everyone! I don't even know anyone who will perform a caliper test anymore. I used to be able to do it myself when I was a personal trainer back in the 90's. But, I don't have my calipers anymore and the machines at LA are quasi-accurate as well. I guess I should just remember that one usually has to be around 10-12% to start seeing a six-pack.
