Hi Buddies

I am so embarrassed. I am fatter and don't even know what it is to go 2 hours without something to eat. What is happening to me. Why is the need to eat all the wrong foods so comforting. I need motivation to get serious about losing weight.

HI Anretteb! Some of us have chosen to follow the 5:2 Fast Diet. Read up about it on www.thefastdiet.co.uk and feel free to ask us for tips about it. Basically you fast 2 non-consecutive days a week where you consume a maximum of 500 calories on those days. The other 5 days you can eat whatever you like but if you opt to make healthy choices and not exceed your RDI then you will lose weight. All the best in your journey!

I find that, keeping only healthy foods in my kitchen, helps a lot.If I do feel like snacking, things like microwave popped corn, yogurt or a nibble of cheese usually hits the spot and does not add much calories.Drinking herbal teas during the cold days (no milk or sugar) is usually my cure for the desire for comfort food. Don't become despondent. Just get up and try and try again. It's worth it at the end of the day :)

I feel you Anretteb, there really isn't much prep work with comfort food, it's effortless. I generally love all things made of flour. You can imagine my variety as a result my body and I are suffering because of my choices. You need just to decide when enough is enough. Than ACT. Thats what I'm doing. I plan on succeeding.

The trick is not to beat yourself up about it all the time. If you do, you feel bad, then you need comfort food. Take one day at a time. Try to make one right choice for the day & as the days go you increase the number of right choices, before you know it, you will be better at controlling your behaviour. Start with something small, something you will be able to manage, like drinking 8 glasses of water for the day. If you achieve that, you will feel good about your achievement & tomorrow you will want to try harder. I find it works for me. If I did 20 minutes of exercise, I feel good & do not want to spoil the feeling by eating something bad, so I end up making better choices. Good Luck & remember every little step makes a difference!
