Spike Diet starts today.. I skimmed through the material and plan on doing a more thorough read on the book tonight. The book is honestly my type of book, SHORT and to the point lol.. No messing around. But anyways I am going to work the protein really hard in the morning to get a good excess and then try to bring my carbs closer as the day goes on. Will be eating clean for the most part these first two weeks. I have "in essence" been on the spike diet for the last week and a half (didn't follow the strict guidelines but used the basic premise), the last week and a half I saw a huge weight fluctuation.. After my spike day I shot all the way up to 175.2 lbs.. I kind of freaked out, but here it is thursday and just like Russell promises in his book, I have lost weight. As of this morning I was 168 lbs. I always weigh myself in the morning right when I wake up. The gym will consist of heavy chest tonight along with light cardio. Follow my diet calendar to check out my protein/carb intake.

Agree with k! Can't wait to hear if it works - and if it does, I am so going on Amazon and getting a copy of the book. I am looking forward to maintaining my final weight for life, and if the Spike Diet can do that, I am all for it :) As a self proclaimed foodie like you are, I really think that it could be good. Please write many journal entries :)

Judging by your past progress, you will do great on this WOE. I fully attribute my success to russell's program. I loved the book as well. Cover to cover read in about 2 hours. I still refer to it today!

Thank's ya'll! I will definitely keep a tight knit journal and explain my workouts in detail along with eating habits being very closely recorded in my diet calendar.

Good luck on the refreshed journey homie! I will also be keeping an eye on your journals to see how you and your body react to this. I have some intrigue and right now, plan on applying some of the "theory" behind the diet and maybe we can contrast/compare eh? Have a good one.

Goodluck man! I'm kinda on the same boat as you. I was already kind of following this diet, but I was no where near 2xRMR on my spike day. I think I'm going to give it a try as well soon. My problem is limiting the carbs in the morning/afternoon!

Yeah, I think that is where I will have the most trouble as well Tapeek. I will probably start being a bit more lax on carbs around 3:00 pm instead of the 5:00 pm since I go to bed earlier than most and wake up earlier. Big protein shake in the morning/some flavored nuts/eggs and I should be good to go. Only good thing about carbs when your at work is that they are simple to acquire.

Allie...spike days definitely work! I have not following the Spike Diet specifically but I am convinced that a day without a calorie deficit helps keep things moving. I do it every week. I am also certain that while I was in Vegas I definitely ate 2x my RDI every day, & once I got back to my regular diet, the pounds were flying off!! Unfortunately my 2-day run-in with the birthday carrot cake brought that to a screeching halt, but it is what it is. You'd be surprised how easy it is to get up to the 2x Panther...go ballistic on some pizza or a rich dessert you love & you're there. One bonus of planning a spike day is that I find it helps me stay on track through the week because I know whatever it is I'm craving, I can plan to eat it on the spike day. Knowing that I won't have to wait forever makes it easier to go without for that day, & often by the time the spike day comes along I don't want it anymore. Delayed gratification. :)

So I'm not 100% sure what this diet is, but I've been reading your stuff in the forums and I'm assuming it works on the premise of having one really heavy eating day a week to jolt your metabolism? (VERY basic premise). What is the jist of it? I'm definitely interested! I am a firm believer that your body will definitely adjust to consistently eating low cal. I've been working on a good maintenance mode, and I also realize that life happens and my life won't fit into a perfect 1600 calories box every day forever. I'd be very interested in finding something that would work with this and not leave me fearful of having a day where I ate more than 1800 calories. Keep us all posted!

I certainly will!! The more i actually "read" the book, the more excited I am to actually stick to his guidelines, lol. So I have decided I would not be eating candy bars and drinking regular soda on my non spike days. On my spike day, I will swim in soda and brush my teeth with chocolate.

Soda and candy bars? I thought you were supposed to go big - like maybe those hot dogs, chicken wings, or TACO bell you've been journaling about :P! Anyways, enjoy the Spike days, and let us know how you feel after them. I'd be interested to see if you were sluggish or tired or just overall feeling poor.
