It happened again this week. I wrote a couple journals early in the week, but then I only left some comments, and a couple post replies, one of them was actually kind of long. Part of it was being busy, but part of it was trying to wrap my head around what happened on Tuesday in the Coffee forum. I am not easily offended (and I personally wasn’t then either), I was just put off and now I want to get my thoughts down in my own journal, where the only rules are those formed by my own moral compass.

[Begin Rant] Don’t get me wrong, I know I sometimes can come off as a Know-it-all. But all of my post replies and journal comments are rooted in personal experience. My Webernet buddies seem to appreciate any input, based on the reaction. If I don’t feel I can add something to a conversation, I typically don’t say or write anything. For instance, you will be hard pressed to find any comments of mine relating to sports bras or TOMs (in the parlance of our times).

I realize that however useful this tool is, it is a free and public Internet site and should be viewed with some skepticism, regardless of the purpose, but what kind of sadist would intentionally sabotage someone who is trying to improving themselves?

In one of the “I need help” forums yesterday, I said we should own our diets in a permanent fashion (as opposed to being On a Diet or Dieting, both temporary concepts to me). At the same time, I don't think we should be so tunnel-visioned, possessive, and paranoid about our methodology that we cannot take experiences from other theories for what they’re worth? I’m all for respecting others methods, but that doesn’t mean that one way is all good and any other way is all bad. The respect needs to go both ways. I guess I missed the day when political correctness invaded the Web. [End Rant]

In conclusion of my rant, and of the football season that just ended with a Packer win, I’ll leave you with this from Vince Lombardi:

“Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.”

Hi CMR I agree that one diet does not fit all. We have to do what is best for our selves. I personally am on a life style change that I can live with..You have just as much right to rant how ever you want...Hope you have a wonderful week end..Go Nascar this weekend..

*LIKE* People just get really dogmatic about their diets and think they have found the ONE answer that will work for everyone and get really upset if you say anything to the contrary. Personally, I just see this a insecurity and pay it as little mind as possible.

heh -- well I added you as a buddy after reading your coffee posts, so you know I like where you are coming from. My parents are Atkins fanatics (and have the yo yo-ing weight to prove it) so I've dealt with it IRL and have come to the conclusion to keep my mouth shut. BUT I'm going to get a bit judgy HERE and say that aside from my doubts about the health benefits, I just think it's environmentally irresponsible to eat so much meat. I'm not a vegetarian (and no plans to become one) but I am trying to cut back on my consumption. Anyway, that's my rant. But even Atkins has some good ideas that I've tried to incorporate like getting away from refined carbs and white sugar. But you know what the Internet's like ... there are always the trolls and the idiots who use the anonymity to work out their aggression on other people. Ignore 'em I say.

Morning CMR! Your "rant" is totally understandable. I've been on FS for quite some time but never really communicated with other members until just recently but I find that it has been very useful; especially since not many of my friends are into working out or watching what they eat. I like being able to read about what others do and what their goals are b/c it helps me keep focused. Why others would use this site as a means to browbeat, berate or impose is something I don't comprehend. We can draw from others' experiences and gain insight and perspective and, in turn, be as helpful and supportive to those with similar goals. After all, we are all on here for the same reason, right? Or am I off the mark here somehow? I enjoy the posts/comments when hilarity ensues and whatever info people are comfortable with sharing just makes it all a bit more personable. So I'm just sayin' I agree with you and I hope those we've accepted as buddies (and vice versa) are on the same page. Like the quote as well. Have a great one!

Thanks, Ladies. I think I needed to get it off my chest in part to enjoy my weekend. Take care, enjoy your weekend, and see you in the journals!

The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will. .....Coach Lombardi

I got this right from the Lombardi documentary on HBO, "Gentlemen, we are going to relentlessly chase perfection, knowing full well we will not catch it, because nothing is perfect. But we are going to relentlessly chase it, because in the process we will catch excellence. I am not remotely interested in just being good." I love this quote!

That was one of the best documentaries I've ever seen, sports related or not. It had everything!!! I have to admit that "there was dust in the air" during the last twenty minutes. I liked the part where Coach Lombardi's daughter said she couldn't find Green Bay on a Wisconsin map. He he said something to the effect of "It will be there by the time I'm done with it."
