Ahhh, the question appears again. Many are not Keto. We all need to find what works for ourselves, long-term. I can't live without my carbs.

Some do Keto, but not all. In general the site is for tracking what you eat for any purpose, and encouraging/motivating each other. We don’t have to all be on the same diet for that. 😊

You just have to look at journals and posts to figure out who is and who isn’t Keto. Lots of us using CICO or IIFYM and things like that. As for myself I’m CICO basically. I try to keep protein up but fat and carbs are interchangeable for me. I also work on portion control a lot and am a firm believer in flexible dieting. I was too restrictive in the beginning. Now I allow myself lots of treats. I keep a weekly calorie ‘budget’. 10,500... I can spread those out however I want during the week (800 calorie one day and 2000 the next). It works for me. I’m such a picky eater that most of the diets like Mediterranean and Keto wouldn’t work for me. I’d starve! Literally I wouldn’t get the minimum needed to be healthy. Good luck on your journey!

not keto..my belief is it "may" cause damage to the liver and kidneys. there is no research to document how being in ketosis in the long haul is healthy.

it's not true.

I don't do keto! I rely on healthy-ish eating and calorie deficits :)

i am 59 and in my lifetime have done a variety of quick fix drop 20-25 lb diet regimens. unless you do something you can commit to for a lifetime you are setting yourself up to fail. ketosis.....as i mentioned earlier is a quick fix to drop lbs quickly. if you commit for a lifetime to control your weight and health do your research....i personally have my conerns.

@Gogogirl59, my treating nephrologist noted that I'm one of the few patients whose kidney function values have been *improving* since our first visit. That coincides with when I began eating lower-carb and shifted eventually to LCHF/keto. He readily endorsed the LCHF/keto WOE and told me that he's eaten this way for years. One important aspect: I've been able to cut in half the dosage of naproxen sodium, an anti-inflammatory medication, and stop Metformin altogether. The kidneys clear these and other medications. If renal function is impaired, some meds build up in the body and cause dangerous conditions (e.g., Metformin can cause lactic acidosis.) Metadata analyses and clinical experience documented by professionals and researchers who participate in DietDoctor.com and VirtaHealth.com establish that LCHF/keto is not dangerous in the long run.

Before human beings developed agriculture, eating resembled LCHF/keto. For information on this, I recommend Dr. Andreas Eenfeldt's video, "A Global Food Revolution," on YouTube at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3oxYN_Uwlk&t=1397s

In my LCHF program, I eat a wide range of meat, fish, seafood, and poultry; low-carb/high-fiber fruits and vegetables; and around 1300-1500 calories per day. As a T2 diabetic, grains, starchy vegetables, and all types of sugar spike my blood sugar. Some people can't live without these foods. I've come to the conclusion that I can't live with them.

Miraculum.... i would never imply, suggest, recommend or otherwise promote a certain lifestyle of eating habits to anyone based on my own experience. My opinion is always in my opinion. I am relatively a healthy weight my entire life and have no health issues..... tread lightly with me when providing advive to me based on links to web sights or your personal experience which is not relavent.

A fad diet is a bandage to the real issue, the issue is we simple eat too much (period)
