Ugh, there’s something seriously wrong with me. I’m not even remotely hungry. Actually I just ate and am full, but even so I want to eat more. I don’t even know WHAT I’m craving or why. Why can’t I just turn the obsession off..?

Our behaviors can take QUITE a while to change... our hunger can be satiated while the brain believes it's starving.

Drink water. Most likely you’re thirsty not hungry.

It’s cause we don’t eat cause we are hungry, we eat cause we are anxious, bored, tired, sleepy, sad, unoccupied, etc

I've used 1000mg Raspberry Ketone and it works great. It limits the absorption of sugars. Hokie, but it's from Dr. Oz.

There is nothing wrong with you. You just haven't found the food that shuts off your cravings. I looked at your menu today. Perhaps you could try more protein? Protein is very effective at shutting down cravings. Good Luck!

have you tried cutting out carbs - all processed, starch, white, sugar, bread etc. insulin stays low and cravings disappear. this is my experience. high fat cream, hard cheeses, the fat kills the hunger and you lose weight. google dr. eric berg.

Mandacurls - is contrave the one with naloxone or naltrexone as an ingredient? (I’ll look it up anyway)

Officially39 - protein is one thing I’ve been having a ton of issues with. I’ve tried eating more lean meats like fish and chicken, eggs, protein shake mixes, it just feels like I can never hit that target goal of what is it I have it set at? 30 or 35%? I would love some recommendations for getting my protein higher.

Carbs are a roller coaster of cravings and eating more. Cut your carbs and avoid processed foods and grains.

Biketolive - I did try Keto for about a month last year. I followed to a T with the strips and Mtc oil and exogenous ketones and all that. The strips indicated I was in ketosis. I was constantly nauseous, constantly had a headache and for the entire month it felt like every molecule of energy had been zapped out of me. I was supplementing with electrolytes but that didn’t do much- helped the headaches a bit but that’s it. And I think I lost like maybe 2 or 3 pounds the whole month. At the time I had a newborn and a 1 year old and I couldn’t take the horrific lack of energy and other symptoms I was having anymore. And once I stopped doing Keto I not only gained the few pounds I lost back, but gained about 20 pounds on top of it, then hit my top weight ever in February and decided to try dieting again with a different focus.

Cut the carbs🙃. something else may need attention deeply hidden inside your emotional space. Seek therapy....get acupuncture, and get with a really good nutritionist. Sending good vibes

I haven’t had a problem with my weight or with food cravings since I was about 13 (at which point I was never overweight but was underweight at some points with periods of bingeing, purging and restricting - did this until my drug addiction started around 13/14), until I got clean about 3 years ago. It’s like I went from one addiction to another and I didn’t even realize it until I was 2018 pounds and noticed I had a daily habit of having like 5 waffles for breakfast with a ton of butter that I only started about a month after getting sober when I started to eat again, but just kept doing, and bingeing on other foods. With food though, it’s not like drugs and alcohol where I can stop one day and go to meetings and never pick up again. With food you have to eat. You have to have it in your house. Not eating can be as bad as eating too much. I’m really struggling with this.

Without doing a completely like almost carb free type diet like Keto -because that really messed me up - what’s a good happy medium for carb intake that’s not super low, but isn’t so high it’s preventing weight loss? What if I cut out like processed carbs like breads and pasta and stuff like that, ate less processed whole grains, veggies, and fruits in moderation. Do you think something like that Would help?

Also, does anyone think I should try a lower calorie intake? I think I’m keeping it around 1850-1950 currently. From all the calculations I’ve done if I have about 2100 cal/day I should stay the same weight. And on most days I have anywhere between 500-1000 calorie deficit. Should I have a greater deficit?

The calorie RDI numbers always seem high to me. I'm 100 lbs heavier than you and feel stuffed if I eat over 1400 cals a day. I would try some lower numbers for a week and see where you are comfortable and still satisfied. One benchmark was adding a zero to your ideal weight so 200 lbs for me would be 2000 cals, but again that seems too much for me right now. Maybe those are more maintenance numbers.

any diet would benefit from dropping refined carbs, no sugars and more whole foods. I don't know what messed up for you on keto, but if you need more carbs do it with whole foods. And you may need less calories as Marx suggested.

That seems to be so true of anyone very overweight. I for one, loved eating as a psychological benefit. It it tasted good I ate as much as I wanted. I fight this every day and definitely have to practice portion control and plenty of low cal variety. It is a brain thing like any addiction, hunger is only part of the equation.
