I like adding the little extras to my "allowable" carbs--not just lettuce, but a salad with onion, bell pepper and/or mushrooms, a sprinkle of cheese. Also not just salads, that 1 cup of cooked and seasoned veggies makes the chicken, beef or eggs that much more enjoyable. And of course I measure and count the carbs in the extras, I feel like I have accomplished alot when I stay within my defined limits, lose weight, and have such great tasting meals.
