I took about 9 days off my diet when I went to a conference in Hawaii. Now, I did gain a few pounds, and I certainly was way off program, but I did not indulge in really, really evil stuff - just lots of fruit. A typical breakfast was a smoothy made with fresh passion fruit, a small local banana, a half papaya and a few chunks of fresh pineapple ( I had a little kitchen) and one piece of whole grain toast with raw almond butter and a small amount of sour cherry jam or passion fruit jelly. I typically skipped lunch or had a small banana. Dinner was at "home" and was usually a bowl of soup and a piece of toast or a few crackers. So, it didn't take a lot of pigging out to gain those pounds rather quickly. The good news is that I got back on my program the very next day after I got home and now, one week later, I am down to below my pre-conference weight. So, I enjoyed but knew from day one that this was for 9 days only, not one single day more. I wish everyone a very good 2008 and encourage everyone to stick with it. (I'm encouraging myself, here, too, because it sure is hard sometimes!).
