I got up early, didn't check who won the election until after breakfast.
5AM, NHK world news: Trump won the US president vote! Other country leaders say that he won because americans want more focus on their needs instead of intervening in other countries. China’s foreign minister Lu Kang and Putin both welcome Trump as President. Expert says Trump could take US in very different direction. and china may expand their push in south china sea, testing Trumps reaction.
(Trump announced unity, and values all races and everyone, & those who apposed him.)

We should not be surprised by the US election.
There was no reason why American voters should act any differently to those in the UK or Spain or Austria.
The forces which propelled Donald Trump towards victory were the same ones which have caused political earthquakes in other Western democracies.
Trump harnessed the anger and frustration of those left behind by globalisation.
These are people trapped in low-paid and insecure jobs, fearful of the future and distrustful of a political elite which appears indifferent to their concerns.
They have lost faith in mainstream politics, the mainstream media and mainstream business.
