Got up to the bathroom once during the night and stayed awake. Wide awake at 3:30 a.m. Might as well make coffee and start my day ☺

I experienced some hunger pangs last night that were rather brief. They felt like stomach spasms. A few swallows of ice water took care of it.

I watched a TED Talk about the mathematics of weight loss. Where does the fat go? Turns out we exhale 84% of it and the remaining 16% is excreted as water. This is why exercise aids weight loss. It makes us breathe in more so we get more oxygen to bind with the carbon to exhale CO2. Fat is made of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen.

Interesting stuff, and the only thing I've seen that has made me remotely interested in exercise.

Great work on the water fast! Thanks so much for the information. I was just wondering yesterday about where the weight goes but hadn't gotten around to looking for the answers. I'm not much for exercise either but I think when it gets a little easier to move and my ankles and feet don't hurt so much I'm going to start walking and see where that goes. Good luck today.

You are so right, PhillySue. Feeling lighter with no aches and pains makes one want to be more active. Why do salmon swim upstream? Because they WANT to!

Wow! That TED talk sounds interesting! I love TED talks. And I also had no idea what happened to the fat. I'll have to google that one. Thanks for the info and congrats on the drop!

I guess that's why sleep helps weight loss too. We tend to breathe more deeply in our sleep. But I am puzzled. If we are burning fat for fuel, wouldn't the waste products be the same as for anything else we consume?

Yes, it is the same.

Lady, I feel ya. At 0430 central time I had a hell of a nightmare where I looked down and my heart was literally pounding out of my chest. I woke up and my heart was pounding. Lousy dream must have kicked my fight or flight instinct on because it triggered about 2 minutes of heart palpitations. Scared the hell out of me. I did manage to fall back asleep though.

Sorry you had the early wake up call and discomfort. Looked up a video on that subject after reading your post and was surprised by it. Thanks for the direction! Tracked further suggested ones and found a couple on anaerobic exercise being the best for fat burning...just 10 minutes every other day...the short bursts burn sugar then body adjusts and for next 24-48 hours it burns fat....thinking of doing it for a couple weeks to test it out. Reduces time commitment as now try to fit in aerobic 45 minutes a day.
