Wanted popcorn last night but decided on nuts instead. Told hubby not to buy any more juicing produce. I will hang that up until I'm closer to goal weight. Decided to fast at work and, if it's an eating day, bring nuts to eat if needed.

Tomorrow is an eating day, then start the 5 day fast on Monday.

I can do what I want: it's my body. Buying that first bag of corn chips slowed my progress and set me up for a second bag of corn chips, which led to a measured binge, which created a raging fiend that knew no reason and didn't care. I ate sugar on June 30.

Anyway, I don't like saying one thing and doing another: "Don't eat sugar. Sugar is bad." I'm no better or worse than anyone else, and I hurt myself by not saying "no" to that first corn chip.

I prefer not to slow my progress. RIGHT NOW. I can, at any time in the future lose my mind again, but FOR TODAY I am fasting.

You're keeping it real and being honest, a lot of people don't do that. A lot of people fail, too, and that's not for you (or me!). It doesn't make you hypocritical to have momentary lapses, it makes you stronger in your resolve going forward. You've got the map, time to navigate!

I like to see that you are not giving up. That you know what you were making wrong choices, and that you know what to do to correct them. I feel like I am starting over every day....not necessarily because I am, but because it helps me to keep myself centered when it comes to this dieting stuff. I haven't tried the fasting stuff yet... it scares me, BUT I do know that I can go longer periods of time without feeling hungry...Sometimes I eat only cuz I have to with some of the meds I am on. Trying to make that so those won't be a forever thing... The only thing I don't feel bad about in my life right now, is that I am doing this and I am more hopeful since I started here for the encouragement and advice. I have learned too... that one day at a time is sometimes all we can handle.. day done, hurdle jumped...on to the next!

I fail on a regular basis! But the difference now is I don't let it completely sabotage my new health eating plan. I plan to fail, buying wine when I know it will take me over my calorie allowance. If I were too strict with myself I would probably binge more!

I so appreciate your awareness, and feel for the set up choices. At the risk of sounding corny, all we have is today. BTW-after you shared about not eating veggies...I bought some and have been making a point of eating them everyday! Meant or not, I appreciated the nudge! Take care of you.. j

None of us are perfect. Some may be a little more diligent, but human nonetheless. I don't think there is anyone on here that hasn't fell for cravings, or even just said wth at one point or another. If that were the case, none of us would be here. Reading (and sometimes preaching...lol) on how bad sugar is is a psychological help just like self talk. Once we fully understand what we are doing to ourselves, we make decisions with awareness. Sometimes we make bad decisions, but being educated and aware make those bad decisions occur a lot less often. "Even when I lose, I'm winning"

Thanks for the wisdom, love, and support. Today is going well. Alert, high energy, no cravings. Drinking ice water as needed. The thoughts that keep going through my mind are "this journey will be faster and easier when I start shopping like Butter Bob and become my own personal diet guru." Not even kidding. I'm so bummed he didn't accept my facebook friend request!

This is the phrase I repeat to myself over and over and OVER when faced with temptation, "One bite will not be enough, one piece will not satisfy, even one entire pie will not stop the craving. So don't give in." When I remember that it goes so much easier. Also, someone told me once that if you have a particular craving like sweets, reach for the opposite like something tart or salty etc. Sometimes that works for me.

The craving was in the car on the way to the store when I wanted chips on an eating day. That was the moment I shoukd have headed it off. I just honestly didn't think I was in danger. I weighed out what I ate, logged it. I lost weight. It seemed fine. Until. It. Wasn't. By that point, I didn't give a *expletive deleted.*

I will have to agree with Oliver on that "failure is part of improving". Now you see what a little does. Now you know. I just got back from the store where a friend of mine works. She told me that I should start back eating "normal" food now, and that I didn't need to lose anymore weight. I told her that it isn't even a weight thing anymore, and then explained mainly the mental issues that going off plan causes. She seemed to actually listen to what I had to say. In awe she asked, "Wonder if that's my problem? That sounds just like me." Well, there's only one way to find out. Eliminate it, and then fail. Other wise, you would never really realize the difference.

"Well, there's only one way to find out. Eliminate it, and then fail. Other wise, you would never really realize the difference." This is profoundly true. A fail is the very definition of how we learn. If it doesn't hurt us, we don't learn and redirect. Especially with dieting, it's a matter of trial and error, until we find a way that works to make us healthier and happier. A better way of life. That's why we won't and can't go back to a 'normal' way of eating, because we've learned that it doesn't work for us. -and happily we can learn what does work for us, but it requires many fails, and paying attention to them, to teach ourselves what our bodies and minds need to be healthy. It's a complex process, but so worth engaging in.

Exactly, Erika!!! I meditate on my actions and reactions daily. Paying close attention to your body/mind, and finding the cause for reactions is imperative to being healthy/happy. Sometimes I find that things that are even allowed on my plan, aren't so good for me in particularly (like nuts). For every effect there is a cause. I don't believe that we feel differently from day to day just by chance.
