Thanks! Yes, that's my furbaby, roommate and companion. I got him after MH died and he's been a lifesaver! (He's not really a baby, he's 16 -- we seniors get along great!! lol) 

We're all working on stick-to-it-iveness!

Jimmie, I sure understand the love/hate relationship with the scale. However...I adore mine :) It offers me the perfect, private invitation to mini challenge myself to keep the # the same or lower every morning! Dealing with menopause brain at the moment and I would completely forget I was working on my health picture if I didn't run into that scale early in the A.M. :) If the #'s were continually going up, I might not be so adoring ;)  

BTW, Panda is gorgeous :) 

@Becca Heard. By "divorce the scale" I mean divorce oneself emotionally, not divorce oneself from or focus. I weigh in every morning; and measure BF/stats E3Days. That said, I know I have too often let the daily scale results inform my emotional state. I suspect many here do the same. There is absolutely no good in that.

Happy Mother's Day - Panda's Mom! I miss my the furbaby of my family - she was also a black cat and died at age 11. I still grieve. My DH was allergic to cats, but grew very attached and said "she was the BEST pet we ever had!" Black cats will always have a special place in our hearts because of her. FS is a great place for support and to learn from others. I agree with Becca P: The scale does keep me focused and on track and educated as I reflect on what I consumed. Yet the real thrill is when my clothes are loose and comfy. The older I get the more important "comfort" is to me. I love "Sketcher memory foam" shoes too.

Thanks, Lifestrip. I've always been partial to black cats and had to have my last one put to sleep when she developed bladder cancer. MH didn't want another inside pet so I didn't get another right away. But when he died, the house was really empty feeling so I went to the shelter and got Panda. He was 14 and had been there over 40 days, so it was apparent no one else was apt to take him, especially since he had some dental problems that had to be taken care of. So he was old, not as cute as a kitten and more expensive to adopt -- but he was perfect for me! He has been the best companion I could ever ask for.

Wonderful rescue Pandasmom :) Our family has had 3 solid black named Shadow, Lucifer, and Nic o. d. Mouse. The cutest black cat name ever (imho)is Jellybean. I have three furbabies now, none of them solid black but the next black one gets the cute name! 

Those are all good names! In the past, I has Diablo and Satin Satan, and my last one was named Piwakit. I'm not sure why they named this one Panda since he doesn't have a bit of white, but at his age I decided not to change it when I adopted him. 

The pants are coming off? That's the best indicator! 

What a wonderful love story - you rescued Panda and he rescued you too. Our grand-daughter was a tot and changed our cat's name to "Mow." I told my friend I would name the next one "Maui". She adopted a second cat and did that ahead of me. On my bucket list - I would like to be a foster mama to kittens. If I got 2 keepers I would name them "Goodness and Mercy" so they could follow me all the days of my life. As far as how this feline business relates to FS - I think all relationships (even with pets) require we become unselfish and considerate of nurture. When an animal is dependent upon us, we have a reason to be our best and do our best. That is why folks who have animals tend to live longer, they have something to live for. Not to mention the exercise they can provide. Right now I need a walking companion doggy... I am going to check with my neighbors to see if I can borrow one of their dogs. I am fearful of the pit bulls - but I think if I bring doggy treats and play with them, then maybe that would be the ideal doggy to take with me on my hikes. I know you can't judge a dog by it's breed, I had dobermans and a giant mastiff... They were gentle giants.
