I joined a local walking group, so I'm walking even more. :)
My waist is getting slimmer, and my weight is going up.
I'm getting back some of the lost muscle mass that I lost trying to lose the
last few pounds of fat around my waist. :)

I did know that would happen: when we lose weight
we lose fat everywhere, not in specific places even if we
do marathon exercises supposedly targeting the belly for instance.

and no, I did not lose all that extra fat around my waist.

When dieting, we also lose muscle mass, which is counter productive to losing fat.
Muscle helps burn calories: not just by DOing things, but muscle requires maintenance,
replentishing muscle glycogen, rebuilding muscle tissue, repairing.
This all takes energy (calories) to do.

I think the human body is a wonderful thing.
It can heal itself, adapt to many different conditions.
And to do that it needs proper nutrition, rest and relaxation, not just at night sleeping.

I prefer to keep mine well tuned. :)
It's the only one I get. :)

Changing your existing exercise routine (like upping mileage) can cause muscles to retain water to help them heal. This can show on the scale as a temporary gain. It will go away. Great job on the exercise and fat loss.
