I have been on this new way of eating for 18 weeks now and have been been losing an average of 1kg a week. Sometimes I have a “mess up” week and gain a bit of weight back but I always recognise what happened and make adjustments to my food for the coming week. Problem is that in the last month I feel I have plateaued, only losing a few grams each week despite doing everything correctly. My weight hasn’t dropped on the scales like it did in the first couple of months. I know I could have some water retention or has my body just given up? It has been so frustrating this last month but I have made sure to continue eating properly throughout the last few weeks of plateauing and today I think my metabolism has finally accepted that this is the new normal and woken up. In my thinking (and lots of googling) I guess this has been a time for my metabolism to figure out what is going on and reboot, like when your computer accepts an update. I am glad I’m keeping a record of my food intake to track this because I have noticed that even though it’s not reflecting on the scales I do feel lighter. I move around more easily and I’m feeling more energetic. I really hate that my body is fighting me. It only wants to stay the same or grow, it actually hates losing weight. It hates taking energy out of my body’s bank account stores and fights so hard to keep it. This week I have let it know that I am the one in charge here!!

If you watch your food intake your body will accept the new normal after a while. You have to behave around food always. If you forget or mess up because of stresses in your life, it is easy for your body to start putting it back on. Just keep on going, you’ve got this!

I lost 2kg at the beginning and it was great seeing the scale reducing but then it plateaued. i lost the motivation because it seems so hard when you don't see any result.however the time to my daughter's wedding is ticking away, I haven't bought a dress yet as Istill hope to lose weight before October but will have to do some drastic calorie defects I think. keep going, maybe it will reboot.
