Good week with a good loss and oh so close to revised goal even without being able to go back to swimming just yet…noting this week was bouncing back from a one-night lapse the week prior that reminded me that no matter how far I’ve come, managing binge-eating disorder triggered by both emotions and hormones is a lifetime commitment. I know I’m strong enough to do it, I’ve proven that to myself, just need to be aware and proactive when I sense the triggers coming so I don’t have a need to bounce back at all!

HEALTHY MOMENT OF GRATITUDE: My health benefits covered post-surgical physical therapy with an athletic therapist so essentially a personal trainer designing a strength routine to help recover and work my other muscle groups in an isolated, targeted way so I can still focus on muscle building despite some restrictions. Felt so good getting a great weights workout in while not worrying I was doing something wrong or ignoring muscles that badly need some love ❤️💪

Do you have any advice on how to get back on track when you are stuck in a binge cycle? How to avoid bingeing when other people around you love snackies? How to gain control in the middle of a binge rather than at the end? Your commitment and progress is so impressive!!

It’s amazing how easily those binge episodes can creep back in eh? I always have to watch for mine, and my mood and emotional states that prompt them.

Hi Rica0101 - Thanks and as you can see, I’m still working on it…progress, not perfection, right?? Here are a few things I find help and welcome any other FS’ers to jump in! - Assuming the binge has started, I’ve noticed there comes a point where everything starts to taste either salty or sweet, but not distinct and doesn’t satisfy. That’s a signal for me to be aware it’s not satisfying anymore and stop - Spend time reflecting on why it’s happening. Back on track when it’s over is non-negotiable, but recognizing why it happened helps me prepare better/solution for next time. When craving or hormone based, revisit working in treats you enjoy…when it’s emotional, identify another way to deal - Eat extra protein and HYDRATE really well the next meal/day to stay full so the binge doesn’t roll into a second day - DO NOT spend time criticizing yourself. It happened, it’s over and you’re in control of what happens next. Guilt tends to cause spiralling, just re-commit. We got this!

Oh and Rico0101, my husband eats one meal a day and eats junk food for the rest of his calories 😂. It takes sheer strength and telling yourself you deserve to unapologetically invest in yourself and always be armed with healthy snacks and sometimes protein treats to still partake but get your nutrients in.
