I don't know what I should record. The 275 was taken in the doctor's office, with clothes on (as was my beginning weight last February. This weight was measured in the bathroom, sans clothes. Doctor's Office weight have generally and consistently been 5 lbs. higher than home. So should I record home + 5 or record home weight and just have it in the back of my mind that I will be weight + 5 at my follow-up in February 2015? hmm. 1st World problems, I suppose.

I only record my home weigh-ins, the doctors scale is always higher. At home I can keep the consistency in what time a day I weigh-in as well as what I'm wearing so it's a more accurate measure in my opinion :)

Always weigh in on the same scale, I used my home scale as well, A digital one I bought at Bed Bath & Beyond. Doctor's scales are usually higher and outdated, Also the regular Family Practices doctors don't usually fine tune the scales either

Well there ya go then :-) That's how I lost 15 lbs. in 16 days. My wife just asked if I'll get down to my goal by the time our anniversary rolls around (9/18). Yeah, I don't think so. My guess is that if I'm good, It'll be about a month. before I even approach it. Time will tell...

Hi pwrestle - The doctor's scale is digital, not the weight and bar system you always picture, but I'm with you...

Record where you weigh every day.

Hi Eddie- Here was my issue. I fell off the wagon for a while. So when I climbed back on, I knew I had a dr.'s appt. coming up So I wanted to measure myself vs. like sources. So I had lost 14 lbs. between Feb 2014 and Aug. 2014 as measured on the same scale. Now, I have to convert those results to my home scale where I will be weighing in more regularly. Its a one time issue. As I said, 1st World problems...Thanks for checking in.

Forget the doctor's scale and use your own. Let his scale be for him, yours for you. Don't worry about what's past, just head off into the future. There's no 'right weight' (well yea I guess there is, but...) as long as the scale you use is headed in the right direction, you've got it figured out.

@northernmusician - Yeah That seems to be the consensus. I just have to keep in mind that I really did not lose 15 lbs. in 2 weeks. If it was that easy, there'd be no need for this site...well, no. There would be. I still need to track my intake...Most important part of my plan.

The biggest thing is to be true to yourself. I know of several people who put false weights to make it look like they are losing weight. Weigh on the same scale under the same conditions every time you weigh (first thing in the morning, after bathroom, naked, before eating or drinking anything). One guy here weighs himself 6 times a day. Absolutely of no value to weight during a day because you can't measure what stage of digestion your body is in. The only constant time is that first thing in the morning time. Weighing yourself on every scale you pass is like looking at every clock. They will never be 100% in sync. Even if it's off by seconds, or in this case ounces, consistency is key.

I would also measure your scale. Weigh a dumbbell or a weight plate and see if the scale is accurate.

Eddie is absolutely right - just to add on to his comments, (1) ensure your scale is about the same temperature every day, digital scales are pretty sensitive to large temperature changes (you can use a small weight before you weigh each morning to ensure it's reading the same, or adjust the reading accordingly, (2) place a bit of blue painter's tape (or something) right where you put your toes, as the placement of the load of your body can effect the reading. Put your toes in the same spot each time and distribute weight evenly across the foot.

Thanks for the advice, Eddie. What is the point of lying about "pro"gress? That doesn't make any sense to me and is a waste of time to boot.
