Good Day, Folks!! I am feeling really good today. I planned on reclaiming some poundage this weekend so I am still 3 lbs. away from my mini goal. But with any luck, I will be setting out on another journey further down the scale starting next week. I have to. The arrows depicting my current weight and my mini-goal weight literally cannot get closer together!!!! Anyhow, Today will be a Journal O' Brag. It's a novella, so you may want to read it in shifts (Ha, Ha)!!! As promised, I have reluctantly posted a Before/After photo:

The left-hand photo is from 11/14/10, a little over 2 weeks prior to me setting out on my new way of life. I was at or around 280 lbs. The right-hand photo is from Saturday (3/5/11). As you see, I still have a bit of work to do on my gut, but the key stats are: -51 lbs. over 97 days. The jeans in the right-hand photo were the subject of a post response I made last week. I packed them for a vacation to San Francisco last September knowing full well I could not button them, let alone wear them out in public. Now I can take these 36W/30L jeans off without unbuttoning them (They are being held up by a belt that was useless not more than 45 days ago). Honestly, looking at the 11/14 photo really makes me vurb.

More than a few people this weekend were amazed with how few steps I took along the way (as we were drinking beers), because I honestly haven't deprived myself of anything. I've eaten carbs. I've eaten pizza, battered fried chicken wings, nachos, and red meat. I've eaten out at restaurants and I've drank beer and hard liquor. However, I have also consumed everything mentioned above IN MODERATION. This lifestyle has truly morphed into a non-diet!!!

Like many others, I feel this site is immeasurably helpful. I was just looking for a basic food diary when I found the Blackberry app. Beyond using what FS has to offer, I’ve only formed a few other habits: 1) More than 80% of my groceries come from the outside walls of the market (i.e. produce, meat counter, fish counter, dairy and cheese fridge, and bakery); 2) portion monitoring; and 3) exercise 3-4 times a week.

This way is not for everyone and it certainly is not the only method by which to gain back this part of your life, but it works for me. If someone else can take something away from it makes it all the better!! One thing is for sure, I had no idea I'd find so many others the same position or so eager to offer help and support. So thank you to all my buddies as well as those who had offered something on my journals or in the forums.

Have a great day, everyone!! Salut!!

Wow. That is so great about the jeans. It's easy to keep focusing on the next goal, the next number, the next loss. But when you have a huge difference like that in your clothes you can't deny how far you've come. SAvor the victory before you move on to your next goal.

Really impressive pics... Keep up the good work... What's the next goal?
2011년 03월 8일 작성이: Matt55
@Matt-I need to reach this one first!!! The next goal is probably 199 and then maintain somewhere between 195 and 205, depending on other numbers such as bp, collesterol, etc. I have broad shoulders and a barrel chest, so I don't know if going any lower is healthy, regardless of what a "Healthy BMI" is.

CMR, great job man! That is awesome!!! Very impressive!

CMR... I'm 6'1"... same buid. In fact I think my chest got bigger or barreled from carrying the extra weight. You really won't know till you get there. My initial goal was 200... just kept going at 5 lb mini goals till I was satisfied.

Yeah, I'll have to see when I get there. I'm actually in uncharted territory. I haven't been this "light" since July 2007. Then I took a baseball trip to Chi-town with the guys, and that was it. That said, I suppose I shouldn't limit myself to uncertain hypotheticals. I graduated high school and college at 185 and 195, respectively and my shoulders have always been a big part of my build, so...It would be such a treat just to get under two bills for the first time in twelve years.

Well you can do it! I was 208 in high school.

Thank you all very much for the kind words. As easy as I think I made losing weight sound. It is truly full of ups and downs and I will aways be working toward my ultimate goal. This is the second time in my life that I've lost a substantial amount of weight. At the end of the day, my goal is not a number on the scale or a messuring tape. My goal IS to not do what I just did for a third time. Over the past 3 1/2 months it pi$$ed me off when I saw someone for the first time in a while and they ass-u-me(d) I was done with my "diet." The first time this happened (about a month ago) was when I realized that I'll never be done because this is now what I eat!! I've sincerely changed my eating habits. This doesn't mean that I won't have a few beers during the game, share a plate of buffalo wings, or have a slice of pizza. It does mean that I won't go on a weekend bender (often :)), have two orders of wings on my own, or eat the entire large pie in one sitting.

"My goal IS to not do what I just did for a third time." As someone who also once before lost a significant amount of weight and is now on round 2 ... AMEN.
2011년 03월 8일 작성이: Z'sMama
Word to all of that... I am on round 2 as well and this time my goal is to NOT gain it back.
2011년 03월 8일 작성이: pixidaisy
*Raises hand* Another Round Two here. Maybe it's necessary to learn that Old Habits = Old Body, but I find most people seem to lose the weight and gain it back at least once before they See The Light and let go of the Diet Mentality.
