What can I say? This is just so discouraging. Don't tell me I'll get through the plateau, because I won't by doing what I'm doing. I don't know what else to do though. Shouldn't a person lose weight when they eat 1200-1400 calories a day and extremely low carb?

Hello Dkburney, I recently read if you do a lower cal menu one day, next little higher cal day and go back and forth it will trick your body and you will get past the plateau..

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I am pretty much the same weight I was last July. How's that for progress? I am starting my calorie cycling today, kind of like katsmab described above. I'm doing two cycles of two low days then one high day with Saturday being a "free to go high or low depending on how I feel" day. If you aren't sure you want to try it just yet, feel free to watch how/if it works for me. I know I did it in the past to bust out of a plateau and it worked so I am going to give it a try again.

Ok, I might try it, I know some people do well with intermittent fasting. I lose when I do that, but it's not lasting and doesn't seem to break the plateau. Something has to work eventually, right?

it sucks. if you can't move foward, at least don't go back. I wish I had the answer, but I've been stuck right here for nearly 2 years.

I agree that it is discouraging and makes no sense, but you have proved yourself to be a very strong woman and I know you will get through this one.

I agree - I wish I had an answer too. I'm dreading the day my weight starts defying the laws of science despite what my mind & emotionals want. I can't help wonder if it is what it is (sorry, cliche) because I've been wondering the same about when I GAIN. I've always put the weight back on but regardless of age, I hit the same top weight and stay 'there' - 285lbs, within 5lb range for four years? Why not 300 or 400 the way I was eating more and more and moving less - others did. What's the answer? What if years and years of dieting and abusing our bodies have just made them what they are and we are where we'll be? Not the encouragement you wanted, I'm sure... if I had the answer, I'd give it. I just have questions. Just know I'm thinking about you.

i started out last year at 1300-1400, and i didn't loose anything. I'm really short though. i have to keep it at 1200 max and a few days under OR work out harder longer whuch is best. then if i go over only one day i can still lose. i see you are doing low carb high fat.. when i did that i hit a fast plateau and was stuck. ANY carbs can change your results. what about trying a week of maybe 35 protein and split the rest good carbs and healthy fats.. i didn't look at ur food though... hang in there.

I do agree with a day to up your calories. However, you might also want to check the weight fluctutatios and see if on the majority of days that you see a gain did you have wine the day before? I love wine and I know that typically if I have wine I will see a gain...our bodies will process the alcohol before anything else. If you see a pattern then you may have to make wine a once a week enjoyment or every two weeks. That was probably the hardest thing for me to do at first.
