I saw the doctor on Friday, who gave me a good report. As of today I have lost 12 pounds since beginning this process. It's not that hard to follow and cravings are a thing of the past. Although, I will admit smelling popcorn still makes me want it. But I don't imagine that will ever change.
By some miracle, I have not cheated and am more comitted than ever to make some serious long term changes/improvements in my health. I am feeling better and seem to have more energy. My flu-like symptoms have disappeared (thankfully) and all seems right in my world. I am going to be traveling on business for the first time since making this rather radical change which has me wondering how to improvise on the road. Hmmmmmm...

Good for you on your weight loss and staying committed. Traveling isn't that bad. I travel a lot. Many restaurants have Atkins meals on them, if they don't it is still easy. Salads, eggs, omelets, you can order a steak, just don't get potatoes with it. If you have to eat fast food, get a double cheese burger and just throw away the bun, you will need a fork. You can also order a salad and a grilled chicken sandwich, throw away the bun, put the chicken on the salad and you have a great chicken salad.
Low carb is so popular now that there are many choices out there. So don't worry, I think you will be ok!

You can order burgers without the bun just about anywhere now and they'll give you a knife and fork to eat it. Salads are a lifesaver and don't be afraid to order exactly what you want for breakfast. I sometimes just order a side of bacon and two eggs or whatever, that way it is cheaper (usually, but check the menu) and I don't get anything that I would be tempted by. Sometimes I order a side salad instead of hasbrowns with my breakfast meal, I get funny looks but I don't care anymore. Good luck on your travels.

I have found most restaurants will gladly make substitutions. I like ordering a BLT salad for breakfast and tacos w/o the shells for lunch. Good luck on your trip. Let us know what wonderfuk things you found to eat while away from home!

You can get tired of burger patties pretty quickly, so keep your eyes open for other things you can order and modify. Yesterday I had a chicken breast with swiss cheese, green chili pod and bacon -- it was supposed to be a sandwich, but without the bread it was really a feast! Watch your portions of the stuff that COULD be loaded with carbs, like salad dressing. You'll do fine!
