I gained almost a lb?
I don’t get it. It’s not
Like I had a field day.
I took pictures of my meals
They were not lavish
I eat lest the 1200 calories?
I only walked 4,000 steps yesterday
Could that be the issue?

Sounds like you are doing fine. I find that weight will flex + or - 2ish pound over any given 24hour period for any number or reasons. Don't sweat the short term changes but focus on longer trends. more importantly on how things are fitting, how you are feeling and what you can do. Keep sticking to your plan. you gots this.

It happens if something was to salty, so maybe that weight is only water. Keep calm. You're doing fine. Watch your portions

Yep, the scales will fluctuate so don't get hung up on it. Keep working on getting to 10,000 steps a day. Walking helps so much with your circulation and your stress.

There is no isuue read the great comments by your fellow members, your fine fluid retention and normal body fluctuations!

Like others have said, watch the long term trends, not the day to day fluctuations. As long as you remain steady on a diet that's given you results you will continue to see results.

I weight once a week at the same exact time to avoid scrambling my brain for the day to day measurements. It one of the best decisions I made on this journey. You may want to review your sodium intake over the week. you can easily have low cals and still high sodium. You'll get this.

I've posted this before, so I apologize if you've already seen. I am posting again because scale movement in the wrong direction has always been my downfall on last attempts to lose weight. I am a bit of a numbers nerd, and I retain water on the slightest provocation (like looking at a salt shaker). I weigh daily and keep a spreadsheet that calculates all kinds of useless information. I am currently down 98.4# in the last 302 days. However my scale has shown an increase on 103 of those days, over a third of the time. If you look only at scale movement, I have gained 82# and lost 181#. Paraphrasing the old priest in The Exorcist--"The scale is a liar. It will lie to confuse us. But it will also mix lies with the truth to attack us. The attack is psychological, and powerful. So don't listen to it. Remember that - do not listen." OK, that may be a bit over the top. The scale is a useful tool, but find additional ways to measure your success, because the scale doesn't tell the whole story.

Weigh every six months, problem solved. I never got too involved with the minutia, it's the long term that matters.

Thank you for reposting, @Uglysocks! As a fellow "numbers nerd", I totally get it! Congratulations on your net effect!

You will go up and down a bit naturally. A pound up or down doesn't matter. Give it a day or two and you will probably go back down. Weight loss happens over time. Your body has to adjust.

@Uglysocks I liked that bit about the Exorcist. I totally agree and thank you for your response. Also, I know you don't share your weight loss (wish you did!) but congrats on losing 98 pounds. It was interesting to me that you had an increase 1/3 of the time. That really gives it some perspective. @Sgkrown One way I used to keep my weight was to weigh every day, add them up, and divide by 7 to get the average. Then do the same thing the next week. The difference is your weight loss. Takes out the highs and lows and can make you less crazy about these little jumps.

Sometimes the numbers on the scale isn’t what you need to worry about! Muscle weighs more than fat so you could have increased your muscle mass!

Also very important for women of all shapes and sizes! **Women can fluctuate in weight do to menstrual cycles and becoming bloated so it’s perfectly normal for you to gain or lose a pound or two!**

Don't get discouraged! Like others have said, the scale will fluctuate on daily readings. Mine does all the time. What helped me was tracking the weight in Excel, with a trendline that shows overall value. It allowed me to easily visualize the overall progress and trend of the weight readings, and helped encourage me to carry on. Using your history, I've popped out a quick graph that shows your progress. See that red line? That's your progress! You're doing great! I never weigh myself if it's my period, b/c you always weigh more then. Also, only 1st thing in the morning, b/c weight naturally fluctuates a few pounds every day, during the day. Also, only weigh naked with dry hair, to keep the other factors consistent.

So frustrating. Get off that mean scale it lies! 1200 calories is not much food at all maybe you need to adjust your intake?

I was 2 lbs over in the morning. So I went to the bathroom( took a huge number 2) took off my clothes, reweighed myself and magically my weight showed a 0 lb gain.

That weight gain is probably water. Always weigh naked. Always weigh first thing in the morning AFTER you have used the bathroom. Don’t freak out at fluctuations. KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE PRIZE.

a pint (16floz) of water weighs 1lb. i weigh myself weekly, not daily, 'cause i know my weight will fluctuate, much like my investment portfolio's NAV. as long as you're maintaining your personal RDI and balanced nutritional values/ratios (protein 30%; carbs 50%; fats 20%) and you're exercising regularly so that you're actually burning more than you're consuming over extended periods of time then you're 'gonna lose weight... 1200 calories isn't recommended so maybe your body is responding with reduced metabolism to preserve itself during your imposed 'starvation diet'. perhaps you should kick to 1500 with me --e.g., consume 1500cal & burn 4500cal daily and lose 10-12lbs monthly (2.5-3.0lbs weekly). good luck on your quest, pilgrim... 😁.

Weight fluctuates, so it could be completely unrelated to anything you did or didn't do. The extra pound could be from muscle, bloating, or it could just depend on what time of the day you weighed. The best time to weigh would be first thing in the morning, before you've ate or drank anything, and after you've used the bathroom.
