So I went to the doctor today for my quarterly appointment, and I refused to look at the scale. I explained to my PA that I had given up on the numbers game and was going strictly by my measurements (which have dropped) and how my clothes fit (my 10s are too big now!). She was completely supportive of it. What a nice surprise! She knew the number and said I was making great progress and looked great, so she wasn't worried and actually encouraged me to stop worrying about the number. She said that they are finding that waist circumference is actually a better indicator of health than numbers on a scale, which can differ greatly based on muscle, body composition, etc. And because muscle weighs more than fat for the amount of space it takes up, and my workouts are regular and rigorous, she feels confident that the changes in my body are only to the good. I'm over the scale. Especially because I put on a dress today that didn't fit a month ago... My new goal is not a number on the scale, but a size. Looking forward to getting back into those sixes in my closet!

Has anyone ever done an egg fast? It's kind of a modified fat fast... Not sure I could handle the fat fast, but the egg fast seems more do-able to me. Anyone?

So... I've been working hard to stay on plan, but it doesn't seem like anything's been moving. Last night my husband had a craving for this amazing pizza we both love, and it's been a struggle for him to keep weight on lately (after cancer treatment last year). After thoughtful consideration, I said "let's go." It was just what he needed. I had a salad before the pizza and didn't stuff myself (luckily it is a very thin crust so it's not as horrific as it could be). I was going to beat myself up about it and then realized that sometimes to break a plateau you have to give your body a little more food so it doesn't think you are starving. Justifying things? Hmmm. The good news. No binge. And my pants are loose this morning. Back on track today, and feeling pretty good about it.
Here's a little something to make everyone smile. We found this in our pool yesterday!

I usually use fat-free half and half in my coffee, but this AM I used one T of fat-free and one T of regular...wow, it tasted so rich! And saved a few carbs. The calorie tradeoff was worth it!

Went to the gym today and two people commented on my changing shape. I'm so glad it is showing, because it's hard for me to see. It is nice when your efforts are noticed!
