So I've been slowly reducing my daily calorie intake. 100 less calories per day each week. I've cut 500 calories from my daily caloric intake, without really ever getting hungry or feeling like I could eat more. That's 3,500 calories less each week! I've also upped my exercise and improved my food choices.
This last week, some days I felt like I wanted to eat more than my daily allotment, and went to bed feeling hungry. So this week I won't be cutting calories, until my body gets used to this level of caloric intake and I don't feel hungry before bed time.
I only have 200 more calories to cut to reach my daily calorie goal (which will be 700 fewer calories each day than I was consuming). I might go lower, but that's my initial goal. When I resume cutting I may start only going 50 fewer each week.
Before it knows it my body won't know what happened, and never realize it's getting so many fewer calories than it used to. So shhhh, nobody tell it. :-D

Good loss here.
Though scale shows body fat percent went up a bit. So probably some water weight lost in that drop. Which makes sense since I've been cutting back a little bit on sodium and incorporating more potassium rich foods in my diet.

Lost a whopping 0.2 lbs in the last week! Woo Hoo! :-P
Well this is where it pays to have a body fat scale, as well as wear a belt.
I've substantially increased my walking. A lot. And I'm counting calories. Each week I reduce the number (easing my body into it :-). Going down another 100 calories this week.
According to the scale I've lost nearly a full percentage point of body fat. (Weigh first thing in the morning after using the toilet). But more importantly, I can MUCH more comfortably attach my belt to the furthest hole, and probably can reach the 2nd hole soon.
