This looks way worse than it is! In the last 3 weeks since I weighed in here I gained 5.4 pounds. As of last Monday when I returned from vacation I has gained 11.8 pounds. That means in the last 5 days I have pulled off 6.4 pounds. I am quite thrilled when all is said and done to record the 5.4 gain!

I suspect the next weeks will be a struggle to get the 5.4 pounds off however it doesn't feel as disheartening as 11.8 pounds.

It is a relief to return to my established eating patterns. As much as I ate whatever came to hand, I found it wasn't what I wanted to do day in and day out. Some of the foods we ate were amazing and some not so much.

I went on vacation with my daughter and my two grandkids. We had a lovely time together. We did many activities we all enjoyed and the nicest part is we all got along even when we were short on sleep at times! Everyone was up for trying new things and accomodating what others wanted.

While I was the gone the mural on my wall got started. I am really pleased with how it is coming along. I am looking forwards to when the paint goes on!

Finally! On a downward trajectory- 1.8 pounds lost this week. The last two days was where the scale finally got some traction. I did do some extra recreational eating earlier in the week so not shocking. Generally held my own for the first part of the week and then did a drop.

I do my 'round up' data by the month. One of the things I have been tracking since 2019 is my gain or loss by the month. I discovered that in 2019 when I lost 49.8 pounds that I gained 1.8 pounds in one month. In 2020 when I lost 16.2 pounds, I gained a total of 7 pounds (4 months that I logged in an overall gain) and in 2021 when I lost 13.2 pounds, I gained a total of 7.6 pounds (3 months that I logged in an overall gain). The obvious thing is that had I just managed to log a zero in those months I wouldn't have to re-lose what I had gained. It also meant that 1/3 and 1/4 of the years I was not only not moving forward but was losing ground.

Why do I care? Right now in the month of February I logged in a 4 pound gain which wiped out January's loss of 2 pounds. I do not want to keep repeating this pattern and it is only two months in and I already have a month where I had a gain. I want to stop this trend now! March is thus far looking good as I am down 4.8 pounds however that can easily be wiped out in the next couple of weeks if I am not being diligent.

This week has been filled with volunteer commitments, bookkeeping for others, getting my taxes done and some zoom meetings. Just the regular run of the mill stuff. My artist is getting started on the mural in my home. He has a plan and has painted the space to start prepping. I am excited!!

I missed reporting last week. I was gone from home and food was crazy. So now after two weeks and the dust is settled, I am down 1.8 pounds. That is good to see. I have been sliding upwards and I really needed to get it going downwards again.

Saying that, today is going to be difficult as far as eating goes. I have planned quite a calorie laden supper. I have figured it out and I can do it somewhat reasonably. Yesterday was 45 years since I married my husband and today would have been his 65 birthday. So the family is gathering for a meal and Euchre tournament. In this way we honour his memory.

These two days have traditionally been a big party at our house sometimes we hired a band and had 200-250 of our friends come! To clarify, the party was one day but on one of the two days! The last big party was the 100 year bash - Dave turned 60 and we were married 40 years. We had a band come from 300 miles away to play. I think we had around 200+ people at the house. Dave died at 62 so I am glad we did it. Two of those band members played for Dave while he was at the hospital. They were good friends of ours.

I gained 2 pounds this week. This is the third week in a row that I have gained. I am at somewhat of a loss. I am eating in a calorie window that in the past resulted in a weight loss.

This week my weight has ranged from highest to lowest a full 3.2 pounds. My highest weight all week was today. Yesterday I was 2.4 pounds less than this morning. My eating yesterday was 30 calories above my window - certainly not 2.4 pounds worth!

I will need to sit with this and see if there are any 'sneaky' calories that I am somehou not accounting for.

My daughter has Covid but thankfully she has mild symptoms. I had a dentist appointment that caused a bit of discomfort for a couple of days but it seems to have settled down for now.

I went to a new-to-me book club this week. One person asked me to share the title of the book- The Art of Driving in the Rain. We meet again at the end of March. I am excited to be a part of this group. There are many members who I have known for years and who I truly enjoy their company. There are other people who I look forward to getting to know.

This is a disappointing weigh in. I gained 0.2 pounds. I averaged at the bottom end of my calorie window all week. I ranged from 70 calories below my range to 30 calories above. I have had two days under my range and one day above the other 4 days in the range. And yet I gained 0.2 pounds! I can't imagine that my calorie accounting is that far off.

I do know that I have been doing a lot of desk work this week and that may be part of the problem because I have noted in the past a correlation between desk work and lack of weight movement.

As it happens today I will need to be fairly vigilant as my eating plan is including some pretty high calorie choices. It is my grandson's birthday and I am choosing to partake in a decadent dessert! We are meeting for supper and board games at my sister's place tonight. Should be fun!

This week has been busy with working on getting some companies bookwork current. Some are 2 years behind in their accounting so it has been an interesting excavating project! I did go to town three days this week. I had an evening meeting for a group I volunteer for, ended up driving my daughter two hours each way to pick up her vehicle and then just a regular town day! Met a friend for lunch which is something I am trying to incorporate in my town days - meeting a variety of friends for lunch!
