A good solid loss of 1.4. Good to see. Two weeks in a row of approximately the same average daily calories and a similar loss. In general about 20 calories above my top end 'window'. I feel like I am back to normal again! I indulged in ice cream twice and in gourmet cookies twice. I did account for the calories which was my saving grace.

This week was a pretty ordinary one. Mostly around doing a variety of tasks that needed attending to. I am anticipating that the big machinery will be in my yard middle of next week. The fellows figure they need two weeks and they will have all the road work, trenching, removal of dipladiated buildings and general yard clean up done. I am really looking forward to this. This is the last of getting my home totally fixed and in good repair. Maintenance from here on out!

That is weird...my weight last week is reading 173.0 yet my records show it was 174.2. Not sure how that happened. I don't show 173 anywhere in my records. Anyway I am now 172.6 so either I lost 0.4 or 1.6! Either way it is a loss.

I now weigh what I did on June 18. Moving in the right direction. I have been indulging in some sweets but have kept it to a dull roar. I wasn't in town as much which helps. I have put in some habits such as an ice cream stop or a cookie stop when I am in town. This isn't totally an poor choice as long as I am in town only 1 or 2 times in a week.

Returning to regular eating habits had a big impact on my weight loss.

We finished the Used Book Sale last Sunday. It went really well over all. It was a big endeavor but only a week long push. We made $2500. I can see ways to improve it for next year!

I had a lovely book club meeting on Wednesday. I did a major house/yard clean using the book club as a motivator to get it done! I was proud of my home and that was so nice. I made a homemade apple pie that was a big hit. Only one piece left over because one lady is allergic to gluten. I ate it over two days.

My daughter and I are planning to go with the grandkids to France for the first two weeks in August. Very exciting! I am looking forwards to it. August is filled with vacation like activities as I am also planning to go to a Blues Festival. Will have to be vigilant on the weight side of things.

I gained 1.6 pounds this week. As I shared last week, I knew this week was going to be tough. I was at a camping Music Festival this past week where I volunteer. This brings the added perk of luscious homemade baking free for the taking! Immediately upon returning I plunged into 8-hour days of setting up for the used book sale in support of our local Women's Shelter which brought a daily indulgence of a large home baked cookie from the local coffee shop. The actual sale began last night and is going through this weekend.

I can look at this 1.6-pound gain as fairly slight in the face of the crazy eating I have been doing in the baked goods area. And that would be accurate. I can look at this as a part of a trend in the month of June where I gained 1-pound last week and 0.6 pounds the week before making this month an over all gain of 2.8 pounds (I lost 0.4 pounds in the first week). It isn't pleasant to see this trend. Finally, I can look at the last 6 months where I am up a total of 4 pounds. Definitely not what I have been going for.

What does all this data tell me? Modest gains add up. If I wish to have an overall loss this year, I have 4 pounds to lose plus more. In the past three years I have lost 12 pounds and 15 pounds in the last 6 months of the year (one year I gained 4 pounds in the last 6 months).

Definitely do able but I will have to keep my focus over the next 6 months. That means the week by week I need to log in a loss no matter how modest and reverse this trend of modest gains.

I have included pictures of the finished rock work on my house for those of you who asked!

I gained a pound this week. Basically had two total blow out days, to above calorie days and two on target. Result? 1 pound gain.

On the blow out days there was ice cream, a box of crackers with cream cheese and a gourmet cookie from a local baker. Glad I pulled it together the last two days. At one stage I was 3 pounds up!! Yikes!

Saying this I am going into a minefield eating wise starting today and ending on Sunday. I will be naviagating food booths and homemade (free to me) delicious cooking. I am going to a weekend camping music festival where the food is fun and good. It feels like a kid in a candy shop. So my plan is- I am packing breakfast so I am not over hungry and there isn't much available at breakfast anyways. I will eat the food and enjoy it but will pick and choose judiciously. Only the very best will do.

Then on Monday morning I will take stock and figure out what to do. As it happens that is when I will be doing a 7 day blitz for the book sale. Not entirely ready for the food aspect of this. Eating out is always tough.

Exciting in my world is the scrap metal fellow arrived yesterday and took away the last 7 derelict vehicles (at one point there were at least 12 of them) and a bunch of metal piles. So thrilled to look out my window and not see them anymore.

The rock is slowly coming together. The weather is slowing things down. Left to do is the caps on the stair rails and about half the rock around the bow window. So close but rain is in the forecast for at least a week.

I dodged a bullet this week. I am managing to clock in a 0.6 pound gain.

I somehow managed to get on the ice cream train. I literally stopped three times in one day for ice cream! One of those stops was for a Dairy Queen Blizzard! My Goodness! That is crazy calories. I did not stop there. My next time in town I stopped two more times for ice cream. On the third day of crazy calories I found some Green Onion Pancakes in my freezer. One pancake is 370 calories which is a lot of a snack...especially when I chose to have two of them!

No surprise I was as much as 2.2 pounds up this week and in fact averaged over the week to be 1.4 pounds up. My average calorie intake this week was 200 calories above my preferred calorie intake. Clearly under these circumstances, a modest 0.6 pound gain is something to celebrate!

This week was its own kind of exciting... I ended up with a septic back up that flooded my entire newly finished basement. I discovered it at 10pm and called Mike one of the two fellows who have been my go to people when I need help. He arrived in 15 minutes and the two of us worked until midnight. Turned out the ground fault electrical outlet had popped its breaker. In the end he came back twice to attend to removing and replacing the baseboards. Job got done. I am grateful to have him available to me. Needless to say I have purchased a wet/dry vac for next time!

The rock is going up on my house and is looking amazing. Should be done by this Wednesday. Very exciting for me as that will complete the outside of my house. All that is left is the yard work which is planned for the month of July.
