I love that Spring weather is here!!!

I did my first cardio workout of the week last night and found that Comcast took away one of my exercise tools. They went almost 100% digital in my area and you need a converter whether the tv is cable ready or not. The two free converters are already being used and I don't have one for Man-Town...

As I said, I've been slacking this week. I'm eating okay, but I've slipped back into some bad habits of the liquid variety. I have the room in my daily allotment, but it's not helping my progress at all. As of this morning, I was just under even for the week. I've already scheduled work out time for tomorrow morning. And to keep me honest going forward, I've decided to post my next goal when I weigh in on Monday. Stay Tuned!!

My wife was going to make dinner laste night but she had to work a little later. Since UConn tipped off at 7:20, I didn't have time to go to the store, and I didn't want to spend the 1st Half in the kitchen. So, I went back to a favorite from earlier in my journey: Wasabi Salmon Burger. Boy did that hit the spot. Now I have to find a use for the other half filet.

Okay real quick one (at least for me).

What's this St. Patricks Day thing I keep hearing about? The real holiday is Round 1 of the NCAA Tourney!!! I took part in a player pool last night so I didn't work out...again. In fact I haven't worked out a ton at all this week. The kicker is, I'm still down a couple pounds. I have done a few days of planks, but no real cardio.

What's better is that I can start to feel a little more definition from the heavy calistenics I've been doing and I don't just feel like a less fat version of my 280# self...

Food wise, I had a couple pieces of takeout pizza and a few drinks last night at the draft. I'm going over to an Irish buddy's house tomorrow to watch basketball. He's already said he's serving left over Corned beef and beer. But c'mon!!!! This is the greatest part of the sports year!!! Baseball starts, NCAA tourney time, basketball and hockey playoff stretch? The only time of year that rivals it is Football season/Baseball Playoffs.

Just so you know, UConn is a 3 seed in the west bracket and play at 7:20 ET tonight.

Please continue to have the Japan and those who are visiting in your thoughts.

Good Morning, All.

I made an amateur chef mistake in making the rice last night that would have gotten me kicked off the first night of Hell's Kitchen. I boiled water on the back burner and put the rice in the pot. So far so good. Unfortunately, I turned the FRONT burner to low and left the back burner on high. Then I walked away for the 20 minutes it was supposed to cook. Needless to say, 7 minutes later I smelled something coming from the kitchen. The water evaporated in less then 8 minutes and my rice was burnt, Thankfully, not to the bottom of the pan. Smooth move Exlax...

I picked out a couple recipes for the week. One is a shrimp and (the aformentioned) rice caserrole out of Taste of Home. The other is Steak Diane. I found the Steak Diane recipe on FS, but then did a quick Internet search and found one through Cooking Light. I love some of the recipes on FS, but some seem forced, if you know what I mean. Don't get me wrong, I still find it a useful resource.

All signs point to my wife ending her travel on Wednesday, so I made the shrimp, which she doesn't like, last night and I'll make the steak tonight. We had a chicken dish on Sunday, and she really liked the baked ziti (okay, penne) from last Thursday. I have really built up my cookbook over the last few months. The issue is she doesn't like shell fish or overly spicy food. Hey, what do you expect. I would be wourried if a Midwest farm girl wasn't a meat and potatoes girl. Well, here's to a good day to the FS community.

I'VE REACHED THE TOP OF THE FIRST FOOTHILL!!!!!

I stepped on the scale this morning three times and took the average (225, 225, 224). That's right. The first checkpoint has been reached. Now on to the next one...but I'm keeping the scroll at the bottom of my posts for a few days.

Because of the weekend I had, I wasn't sure I was going to reach it this week. It wasn't that I ate bad necessarily, but I did drink a bit.

The nice weather allowed me to do some yard work on Saturday. The snow is pretty much gone so I raked the salt and dirt off my lawn left by the front-end loader. I was planning on leaving it on the street for the street sweepers, but after seeing how much was there, I decided that I didn't want my curb to look like a$$ that long.

I thought the Big East Tournement Championship game was going to be played at 7:00 and we were planning on dinner at a bar before the comedy show at 10:00. The game was at 9:00 so I DVR'ed the game and we found a really nice restaurant. I had to avert my eyes from every TV in Connecticut!! The comedy show was really good, All three guys literally gave us more than a laugh a minute. I didn't know what to expect, given the tickets were free. I capped off the day by watching the 1st half of the basketball game. One word: Wow!! UConn gained 2 full seeds in the NCAA Tourney with their performance last week. I probably have too much alumni pride because their success really has no direct impact on me. But I paid them $120,000 so I think I own a little piece of the sports team in some small way.

The worst part of the weekend was the lost hour yesterday. I was flipping between the NCAA Selection Show and the Celtics game (6:00), and I felt like it should have been the middle of the afternoon, almost like I had jetlag. Well now it's back to the grind.
