I am 56 years old. On May 23rd,2016 I was diagnosed with Diabetes type 2. I cried for 15 minutes, gave myself that time for a pity party and then said, well, time to change your life style. I was a smoker and ate horribly. I did not eat a lot, just when I did eat, it was all the wrong foods. I threw out my cigarettes and started researching on line about diabetes. I am on a low carb diet, stopped smoking and now work out every day. (well, treadmill and biking and a little weights, but it is something at least). I have an ambitious goal. To get down to 120 lbs. (I have never in my life been thin, so that would be an odd look if I made it to that goal) and the second part of my goal is to kick the diabetes altogether with diet and exercise. I have read it can be done and I want to be one of those success stories. (My doctor calls it "remission", but I say if it is in remission I don't have it! lol) 89 lbs is a lot of weight to lose and I just pray I don't get discouraged when it isn't coming off as fast as I want it to and that I can stay true to my diet and exercise regime.
