I am 53 years old and have always tried to keep myself fit, healthy and slim. I have always been 9.7/10 About 18 months ago I hit the menopause and started thickening around my waist, thighs and bum and developed a pot belly! I tried almost every diet going in the end I joined a gym and did HIIT classes almost every day as well as weight lifting and started running. My diet was good, I ate clean and my weight soared to 10.7 stone but presumed I was building muscle my PT told me my stomach was down to bloat not fat. I tried consecutive weeks cutting out wheat, gluten, sugar and dairy but to no avail I was still bloated. After several visits to the Dr's they basically told it was down to my age. Due to unforeseen family problems I had to give up work and become a fulltime carer. My weight soared to 11 stone, none of my clothes fit and was heading towards a size 14. I had a 2 week holiday booked in September (which at the time was 5 weeks ) and was desperate to lose at least 7lbs. A friend told me about a VLCD diet so decided to give it a go as a quick fix. I ordered 4 weeks worth of packs and was living on 650 calories a day and hit ketosis after 5 days! t I felt really well, more importantly the hunger eased. By the end of 4 weeks I had lost a stagging 14lbs. I decided to reset my goals. I ordered more packs. 2 weeks off plan I did put on 11lbs but that was down to me not choosing healthy options, but I wasn't worried. Once home, I was straight back on plan to date I have lost a staggering 26lbs in weight and 25 inches. I can now feel my hip bones, my waistline has come back and i am now in a size 8 clothing!!! I only has 2lbs to go until I have reached my goal. I have been researching Keto diet and think that this is the diet I will be using to maintain my new found weight.
