I am 48 years young! I have between 50 and 60 lbs still to loose. I am following a Vegan diet as recommended in the book "Reverse Diabetes" by Dr. Neal Barnard. I am following this way of eating due to the fact I have Lymphadoema, (swollen legs), am pre-diabetic and have insulin resistance. I never thought I could give up animal products but have found it quite easy, in fact a lot easier than when I gave up bread when I thought I was gluten intolerant! I have started to enjoy cooking again looking for new and exciting but nutritious meals. My family are still "meat eaters" so I try to cook as healthily as I can for them and omitting meat for myself. Fortunately I love vegetables, rice, beans and other grains. For once in my 25 year struggle with my weight I am taking control of my eating and taking it seriously. Slowly but surely the weight is coming off and now my clothes that were once very tight are actually baggy! What a wonderful feeling!!
