I just turned 56, never married. I used to be average thin. In my 20's 30's weighed between 125 and 135. I had jobs where I was on my feet alot and of course, being young I was out doing lots of things. In 1986 I got a job as an office manager and the totality of my job was desk work. Did well for many years but then in my mid 40's changed to another desk job. I work in an office with a lot of women, and everyone brings treats for birthdays, anniversary dates, left overs from family functions, holidays, and just because days. My job is very stressful and I have gotten into the habit of stress eating. When I get home I am so mentally exhausted, I tend to just sit. I don't pay much attention to what I eat, I just eat. When I get really stressed I drink red wine, which isn't so bad, healthy and all that, but I have 3 glasses instead of one. I have become very sedentary in my life style.

I've been on tons of diets in the past, Atkins, South Beach, Weight Watchers, the Rice Diet, the grapefruit diet, Sweet potatoe diet and they all work for a while, but for some of these diets, you have to eat like that for the rest of your life. With all of the diets, I gained the weight back and more.

I need to find balance in my life, including food and exercise. I have to make a lifestyle change. I have high cholesterol, heart problems in my extended family as well as cancer. I'm now diabetic and on metformin.

I need to find something permanent. A family of support and encouragement
