My husband and I started Atkins on April 21, 2014. Since it's just the two of us (and our 3 furry kids who eat only kibble) it was easy to carb/junk food proof our home. So far so good. I've cooked from atkins cook books for some time, but we never seemed to put it all together. As of today 6/16/14 I am down 16.4 pounds. I love the food choices and I am a former "Carb Queen" (pasta, bread, chips, did I say Bread????). Being honest I have not suffered any cravings since we began, I'm not a huge chocolate fan, so an Atkins bar curbs any sweet tooth i might have. I don't and haven't ever used sugar, so BREAD & Pasta were the killers.
We're both 57, I ended up losing 50 pounds and keeping it off through my 40's only to start finding it during my 50's. I started this adventure needing to loose 45-50 pounds and my husband substantially more. He's doing terrific, I'm happy with my results also. I've been going slow and steady and I'm content with that.
I cook most of our meals, I don't want to rely on frozen solutions, bars and shakes. We do usse them here and there, but mainly I make our meals and snacks. We're staying on induction for a while, until we get a bit closer to our goal weight and then will work into the other Phases of Atkins.
The best part is we both Feel Wonderful!!!!! It's a way of life, not a diet.
Good luck to you all out there in starting your new lifestyle.
