Second day, and there is no way I can eat 2000cals a day! Does it matter that I'm not getting to eat my daily cals??

hi! 2000 seems too much to me. men on FS tend to go for between 1500-1700 and women 1000-1500. I've been both higher and lower than your weight and 1300 a day is a great calorie count for me. I loose about 1-2lb a week, and the calories afford me a snack, a small sweet, a dinner and a lunch on a good day.

Thank you! I think I'll take your advice and do 1500, just incase I do have a binge day. I didn't want to be eating just to use up my calories when I didn't really need them. ❤️

No problem. The FS RDI calculator says I need 1900 to maintain my weight, so I cut that down by a few hundred so I can loose.

I’ve tried all amounts. Recently I found 1500 was too much for me now I have cut down to 1300. Even then I have 1-200 calories left over on some days. I usually say -500 from your daily recommend amount if you want to loose 1lb a week and if you want to loose 2lbs then another 500 which in your case comes down to 1000 calories a day. But I think if your doing moderate activity then keep to 1300 a day. If you eat sensibly there’s so much you can eat within 1300. I’ve taken yasmin15585 and Neilbatemans advice.

Hi Jenaloucarv, certainly don't eat food purely to make calories up if you're looking to lose weight. Certainly not to an amount like 2000 calories. I've spent most of my time doing about 1000-1200 calories, so 2000 seems rather excessive for a woman. That's more of a calorie intake to maintain weight I'd say. To lose weight you want to drop below 1500 to make any meaningful difference I reckon. Good luck.

Thanks Neilbateman, I think I was worried just because I heard that if your not getting enuf calories that I could actually put weight on?!? I can't remember where I heard it or if it's true?

if you eat too few calories your body will slow down to conserve what energy you have and leave you feeling tired. It may also hinder weight loss. But 1000 to 1500 good quality food is plenty to keep you going while still losing weight.

You need to work out your maintenance requirement (TDEE - the amount of calories you need to stay at the same weight). http://www.fitnessfrog.com/calculators/tdee-calculator.html Then adjust your intake accordingly. -500kcal a day for 1lb a week, -1000kcal for 2lbs a week (a pound of fat containing approx. 3500kcal) - this is purely for fat loss and doesn't take water weight into account. I've been cutting at -1000kcal a day since Christmas and have comfortably seen 2lbs or more loss a week ever since. My intake is actually around 1400kcal a day to achieve this. Eating less calories will not make you put on weight. Calories are only energy, if you take in less energy than your body needs it has to find the extra somewhere else - typically your fat reserves. You won't have the extra energy to increase fat if you're eating below your requirements.

Calculate your base metabolic rate(BMR), then eat less calories to lose weight. The 500 calorie per day for a lb is a myth. Just do some research. My BMR is 2100 calories per day. I don't actually count calories, as I follow a ketogenic diet, but log everything so take about 1400 at a push.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I'm currently only eating one meal a day (dinner) I may have lunch now and then but then don't want dinner, I'm only averaging 654cals a day.x

Whatever, and however much, you're eating, make sure that you are getting adequate vitamins and minerals. You'll also need to ensure to protect your heart and lean muscle with protein.
