I feel like I have let myself down today.

My weight loss high seems gone...

I was doing great until yesterday when TOM came at me with a vengeance.

Not only TOM, but, a stomach virus as well. Yesterday, I couldn't keep anything down and today meat and cheese just makes my stomach lurch...

So I have settled for Won Ton soup and crackers.

I feel so dissappointed today.

How much do you think this virus will set me back?

Allowing myself carbs when I'm sick really set me back, but maybe it is different for you. Now if I get sick I stick to chicken broth with chopped veggies and parmesan cheese and s/f jello. Oh yea, and tea. It isn't worth getting back on the carb wagon when your body is already weak because carbs actually interfere with your immune function. I hope you feel better soon.

I agree with what Sara is saying but I recently had a bout with a nasty intestinal bug and my usual Atkins friendly fare only made things worse. I ended up eating mostly oatmeal and low carb toast for a few days. Of course it made me feel really lethargic but my symptoms were not as bad. I would try Sara's suggestions and if they don't work then go for the carbs only as a last resort. I was eating that Quaker Weight Control oatmeal which at least has 7 grams of protein and either 5 or 6 grams of fiber per serving, so it at has some nutritional value (small, but it's something!) Don't beat yourself up over it. You have to eat to keep your strength up or you will have a harder time getting rid of the bug.
