I feel good today I consumed only 1471 calories today and I set my goal as 2000 a day. I don't feel hungry or anything maybe a bit tired due to exercising. I did drink Dr. Pepper (my weakness) but it was calculated in my calories and also I ate whole wheat bread (another weakness) but again it was calculated though. So I don't know if I really made progress on what I consume but I did exercise. 😕
Does it really matter what we eat if we still consume with in the limit? Some people say it does some say it doesn't. What are you guys thoughts?

What ever works for you, is the plan you should follow.

Each person is different... some can eat anything and lose just by portion control, others must go vegan, some keto... some by a mix... as long as you feel good and are on your path- keep it up! Blessings and best wishes

For me it absolutely matters. I cannot lose any weight and I am always hungry if I eat too much sugar or carbs even if the calories are low. If I stick to a low carb, high fat diet but keep calories below 1200 I lose consistently. I agree with the others that if what you are doing works, that's all that matters. If not try something different.

Without diet any workout is useless. When you start exercising you can loose some kg because it is just stress for a body, but after some time you will adapt and will not be able to loose any kg, so without a strict diet it is impossible to reach any goal (even muscle gain). Be patient, overcome your needs, especially stomach and everything will be Ok ;)

The only advice I can give everyone here is to go to https://www.musclehack.com/ and follow Mark McManus' lead on diet and exercise. I have lost 10 lbs of fat.

Its quite easy to maintain a 1400 calorie per day diet and still get plenty of food intake. I doubt I will ever go back to 2000 calories per day.

Ok Food Police, I get it I was reading between the lines what he was talking about so let me say in English if you make it part of your food intake to gulp down loads of icecream, cake, candy etc. that adds up to alot of carbs,fats,sugar...he'll to exercise and drink lots of water to flush it out. so he needs to know the con's for such habits...so stop being so wissh-wassi. like whatever makes him feel go. He's asking so let him decide.it's called being informed people.

The U.S. Dietary Guidelines say 45 to 65 percent of your calories should come from carbohydrates, while 20 to 35 percent should come from total fat. You should also get 10 to 35 percentof your calories from protein. While, Men's Health says, "Shoot for 50 percent carbs, 30 percent protein, and 20 percent fat, he recommends, which seems to be a happy medium based on recommendations listed above." https://www.menshealth.com/nutrition/how-much-fat-and-carbs-should-you-eat

But I say things that have empty calories are the worst...soda pop (sorry I refuse to call everything coke) is the worst of them. All them calories an next to nil nutrients. next in line are the super refined stuff...it costs your body nothing to break it down...ie the common loaf of bread or breakfast cereal

With all due respect the US Dietary Guidelines have helped to make us very very fat as a nation. I worked as a nutritional consultant for years and my most successful clients ate low carb diets. I supported them because it was what was working for them but I stuck to my belief in the metrics I had been trained on. I personally ate 1200 calories a day using those metrics and barely lost a lb and felt tired and hungry all the time. When I cut the carbs to 10% I lost my weight and got my life back. I am off all medications. Statins and high blood pressure meds. I will never go back. There are many renowned physicians who advocate high fat, low carb. Dr Hyman has a wonderful show on PBS that everyone should watch.

I have to agree with 2426girl, I have had weight problems all my life and for the first time I have a record in weight loss thanks to a diet low in carbs and high in fat, I also stop the medication and my lab results are excellent. I've only been 2 months on a Keto lifestyle but the benefits are undeniable. 💪👍

Me personally I believe in the paleo or Mediterranean diets (sorta paleo) I've been over there... it was rare to see an obese person. I think the US market has made us fat. It is expensive to "hunt" for your food on the outer walls of the grocery store while all the stuff in the middle of the store, the highly processed and refined crap that our our bodies have learned to crave, is cheap.

Sometimes what is recommended doesn't work. It is a fine balance of what we eat and what we use or burn. It can be trial and error. Over the last couple of years I have had to drop the number of calories I eat because I am limited to the exercise I can or actually do. No exercise, you do not need the recommended calories.

What you eat matters more than how much you exercise when trying to lose weight. It is opposite when trying to maintain weight. At least that is what I have read. I limit calories to 1200 but am less than 1000 many days. I am also rarely hungry. This is because I eat mainly protein. I focus on protein for 2 reasons. First my Dr recommended that I eat 30 grams of protein per meal and focus only on that. Of course no sugar. The second reason is that during my search for a diet plan I joined Keto gains and the recommended macros for that group came up to 91 grams protein. So it seemed to me that I had 2 independent sources recommending the same thing. You will have to figure out what works for you and what makes sense for you LONG TERM. You don’t want to lose and gain it all back.

Newnbetter, I invite you to Common Sense Keto on FB, to see if the info makes sense to you. I definitely agree that what you eat matters far more than how much you exercise. I personally am keeping protein under 50 (in the 30-50 range) because too much can cause an insulin spike. No bueno.
