I think I might not be eating enough calories! Could this be true? Yesterday I pulled out all of my old diet/healthy eating information I’ve gathered from various places over the years. When I was in Middle School, I saw a dietitian who told me that I wasn’t eating enough calories to lose weight. I thought she was crazy. I’m not a hungry! When I got older and went to Jenny Craig, they told me that I needed to eat at least 1900-2200 calories a day to lose weight. I was only eating about 1300-1600 calories. I looked at them like they were crazy! I can barely eat what I eat now! I’m too full! So I moved onto Weight Watchers. They told me the same thing, you need to eat more.
So I’m sitting there talking to my friend Becky who has lost a great amount of weight and she told me the same thing and then it hit me. All those times I’ve eaten a lot and thought omg I’m going to gain, I’ve gotten up the next morning and had lost 2lbs! Really? All this time I’ve been eating low calories when in fact I haven’t stoked my Furness enough to turn around and burn my fat calories! For some reason this is making sense to me. According to 80% of the calorie counters out there, I’m supposed to be eating 1800-2200 calories to lose my 2lbs a week.

I’m just like in a state of shock! If this is true, I’ve been wasting a lot of my time when I should have just listened in the first place lol. I’m definitely going to shoot for 1800-2000 calories this week and keep a close eye on what happens. Interesting stuff!! lol

**Update, I just recalculated my RDI for FatSecret just for Sh*ts & giggles and...In order to lose 1lb a week...I should be eating 2800 calories!! I think I'm on to something.

Don't know about you but I have to keep mine under 1400 to lose. There is a theory that extremely low cal. diets will put your body in "starvation mode" - but that would be below 1200 (or less).
